Hey guys – is it a good idea to submit to search engines manually?
If your search engine is a ‘spider’ then – no – you want the spider robot to ‘find’ your website. The best way to do this is as follows:
1) Go through your rolodex and look up the most popular website webmaster you know PERSONALLY
2) Send them a personal email or give them a phone call
3) Tell them about your new website and ask whether they’d be willing to put a link to your website – send them a press release.
Remember: its always best from a Search Engine Optimization perspective that a spider discovers your new website from another authority website.
However, if your search engine is not a spider, as search engines were back in the early days, then yes, you should submit your website manually.
Many people are obsessed with spiders. Personally, I believe spiders were a bad idea for marketers. They’re great for research – bad for marketers. Why?
When you Submit to Search Engines Manually you can build a relationship with your Search Engine
It also allows you to have your ‘listing’ appear different than the content on your page. There are tens of thousands of manual submissions you can send your site to. Do you have a website? Then you ought to list yourself with a search engine. Here is a search engine I’ve been working on for a number of years. It’s specifically designed for webmasters and web site owners to get their sites ranked and learn how the ranking process works. It has a unique ‘spin’ – it also has a ‘Short URL’ – that is generated by your search listing. The more you use this URL – the more clicks the search engine records and the more relevant your website will be.
So if you’re a marketer – check this out – I made it and we now have over 20,000 participating websites and more being added each day.
