How To Build And Explode Your Downline

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

Everyone wants a bigger and a more quickly built downline, am I right? So what’s the problem? I mean we have the internet for goodness sake with access to millions and millions of people. Why is this so hard to do for so many individuals? Sure people are more skeptical given the economic climate and things like that but that’s not really the issue cause people are still spending lots and lots of money even though they tell you their pockets are empty.

So I was listening to one of my friends D. Wood talk about this the other night. He’s actually built a downline of roughly 15,000 people since this past October, so about 3 months, into his new generically branded company that he has been working on. We’ve had several private face to face conversations in the past but I’ve never heard him really speak about this specifically before.

Advice On Building A Downline

Now this may offend you because it will clash with what you may have been told otherwise but he’s built a downline of over 15,000 people in roughly 3 months so I think it’s worth a listen. There are exceptions to every rule and this is no difference so feel free to take what you like and forget the rest.

The key to a massive downline is having a smaller one that duplicates. Obvious and simply stated but hard to do in reality. The point is that it comes down to duplication. If new members aren’t able to duplicate then they eventually quit. Not good on either fronts. What you need to do is 3 things…

1) Decrease the complexity of tasks

2) Increase the effectiveness and efficiency of that task

3) Have them do something that actually works

The Breakdown Of The 3 Steps To Building A Massive Downline

#1 – Decrease the complexity of tasks. In other words, whatever they are doing has to be simple. It should not be trying to learn and master 5 different things at once. Trying to have a brand new person learn copy writing, set up a blog, video editing, and social media from the get go will only get them confused, frustrated, and broke. Keep it simple and straight forward.

#2 – Increase the effectiveness of tasks. This is where some feathers may get ruffled. So please, sit down and take a couple deep breaths if you get offended easily. In his OPINION, the traditional method of making a list of friends and family, calling them, and doing a home meeting is LESS effective then it was 20 years ago. Here’s why, technology. 20 years ago, there wasn’t caller ID or cell phones or things of that nature so if the phone rang then you would stop whatever you were doing and pick it up because it could be a loved one in danger or in need of help.

Now of days, it’s just plain harder to get someone on the phone and talk to them. The person may prefer to just text or they may not even pick up because they are screening the call to see if it is someone they know or want to talk to. In his personal experience, it has been equally effective to enroll a new member by getting them to watch a video presentation then go to an actual meeting. If you can’t even get them to pick up a phone then what are the chances of getting them to a meeting?

The second point is that it comes down to exposure. How many people view the presentation. If you go out and physically prospect or call people on the phone you may only get in contact with 2-10 people. Whereas you could have spent that time marketing online or building content and had more effectiveness.

#3 – Something that works. Whatever it is that you have the person do, you have to know that it works in isolation, regardless of the user. It has to be an action that when performed, they get results. For this, he recommends having a system done by someone that is actually very good at selling. The reason that he was able to build a downline of 15,000 people in roughly 3 months is because he created a completely done for you, plug and play system that the user only has one job. Drive traffic (exposure). Just focus on driving traffic and results will come because well, he is good at selling and he knows his system works.

What Do YOU Need To Do To Build Your Downline

The simple solution is obviously just use D. Wood’s system since there is a ton of social proof that it works or take those 3 steps and apply it to your business. What you will need to do is make sure you have a high converting sales funnel (videos need to be done by a proven salesman), auto responder email series, and a programmer to do the necessary coding so new members can use it also. Then you will need to test the system out for a while (several hundred visitors at least) to make sure that it actually works before you hand it over to new members.

You can see the current generic system that D. Wood is letting other people use to help build out their downline regardless of their primary company by going .
