Why Is Social Media Marketing So Important To Your Business?
Social Media Marketing Is Integral To Any Business
One of the most integral parts of any business is Marketing, actually social media marketing no matter the industry, and it forever has been. Early on, print media such as magazines and newspapers were everywhere, and next to enter the picture was radio, which was soon overshadowed by television. Today each of these advertising mediums are still very much in use, all these so many decades later.
Then, in the 21st century the Internet was added to the list of marketing and advertising strategies, bringing forth a distinctive level of marketing called “networking”. Advertising your business online is not only important, but networking (today’s social media marketing) is an extremely essential aspect in that it engages your customers. While we get our customers engaged, we cause them to feel special and extra comfortable, consequently creating a better experience for them, whereby they are then compelled to come back to us and refer us to their friends and family.
Social Media Marketing Has A Sole Purpose
The purpose, generally, of social media marketing is to advertise your venture or website through the social media channels. Promoting at a low cost and obtaining network marketing leads for free are some of the intended side effects of social media sites that can give your business a better survival opportunity. Online marketing of your business can be a complicated, full-time job if you are just starting out on the task. If you first, however, define your goals and objectives, stating very clearly your goals to be accomplished with online business networks, then it can be an easy, fun activity.
Within the vast sea of social media marketing sites, you’ll initially be inclined to want to register with as many sites as you can, considering the age old adage “more is better”. However, nothing is further from the truth. Recall above when I said earlier that it can be a full-time and complicated job? Signing up with more sites than you can manage on a regular daily basis could be just as destructive if not more so to your business as not being on but a few social sites at all. Now comes the question of how are you expected to know which sites you should sign up to and which profiles to focus on? To begin with, it’s a reasonably safe argument that there is a large customer base on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn. After all…everyone is there.
Don’t Sign Up To All The Social Media Marketing Sites You Find
But hold up, don’t take off and sign up with all of those sites right yet. There are several attributes that determine the type of social media marketing tool you should choose. Your goals, the industry you are in, other marketing strategies you use, and the various resources you have available to you, to name a few. Various tools are out there that target customer communication, brand exposure, SEO, etc., all to assist businesses with their social media marketing. Of course the choices made by each business differ based on the business’ specific needs and objectives.
If the selection process had been easy in creating a tested, proven formula, there likely would not be much debate taking place on the subject, now would there?
Weigh Your Results
As soon as you start seeing results from your social media marketing activities, you have to weigh the results obtained against the time, effort, and money you put into the medium. ALL social media marketing success is not really worth repeating. At times after you’ve achieved the results you were looking for, you will step back and may realize the process costs were much higher in money or time than expected, was a challenge beyond what you had bargained for, or was simply too unpredictable.
In summary, ahead of you stepping up and moving forward, or if you have already started but are not yet having a bit of success, you have to devise a plan. Without a plan, you won’t be able to track, monitor and measure your progress efficiently (think Google Analytics). See what Sir John Harvey-Jones has to say on this, as follows: “Planning is an unnatural process; it is much more fun to do something. The nicest thing about not planning is that failure comes as a complete surprise, rather than being preceded by a period of worry and depression.”
