7 ways to make 2016 your best year yet!

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

With 2016 fast approaching, its time to start planning and laying out some new goals. Here are some simple tips on how you can prepare and plan to make 2016 your best year yet!

1. Write down at least 5 Lesson’s learnt from 2015.

In order to look forward, you have to take a very quick glimpse back to:

1) see how far you have come

2) note any mistakes or lessons you have learnt from that you can either avoid in 2016 or perhaps do things a bit better.

Write down at least 5 things – more if possible.

2. Set 2 or 3 major goals

Rather than running around like a headless chook trying to achieve 20 goals, try just setting 2 or 3 major goals. I learnt the “power of Focus” from a friend of mine and applied it to 2015. We had 3 major goals – buy a house, Start a business/ Company and Dream Trip to USA. We also had some smaller goals and celebrated along the way.

We achieved ALL 3 goals along with a few extra’s along the way. Its amazing what you can achieve with The power of Focus! For 2016 we have also set 4 major goals (because you have to out-do the successes of the prior year!). But don’t let this stop you from setting more than 3 major goals! And don’t forget you need Short term (present to 1-2 years) and Long Term goals (Future- your ideal lifestyle!)… above all, never ever stop DREAMING.

3. Review your goals & progress and Celebrate!

This is an important factor to achieving your goals. We personally prefer quarterly reviews as this is the right amount of time to gain momentum, make mistakes, fix them and move forward.  But do what works for you. Always take time to reflect and find ways of doing things better. And don’t forget to CELEBRATE when you achieve both your short and long term goals. You’ve worked hard to achieve them, so celebrate! It makes the journey so much for exciting and rewarding.

4. Visualise

We talk a lot about visualisation and its power to help materialise your dreams. Its simple, vision creates something even before it exists. If you don’t visualise, then nothing will be created, therefore nothing will materialise.

Go ahead and study all the successful entrepreneurs, scientist, creators, dreamers and geniuses… their creations first started with a “thought”, that thought then became an idea, then made reality.

5. Make your Vision clear, simple and seen daily!

We have our goals printed on a paper hanging on our wall- daily we read them to remind us of our dream. Life can get so busy and weeks if not months can pass by without the opportunity to revisit your goals.

That’s why we recommend to hang it on a wall or anywhere visible. Go a little bit further and add a Vision Board.. what does your “perfect day” look like? how about your dream car? Dream house? The new you?… and so on…

6. Accountability

Find someone who can keep you accountable – whether it’s your spouse, kids, friend, business partner or colleague. And be their for them too. It’s amazing what people can achieve if they have someone challenging them and cheering them on!

7. DECLARATION

Declarations are very important to us – in fact not only does seeing your goals written with your own handwriting have a huge effect, when you actually start saying it with your own mouth you begin to unlock a power within that aligns everything around you to help you achieve your goals and dreams. Heard of the Law of Attraction? That is it.

“2016 is my BEST and most BLESSED year yet!”

“All things will work out for me”

“Everything I put my hand, heart and mind to, SHALL prosper!”

“I believe in ME and I am more than able to accomplish my goals and aspirations”

“Today I take action and everyday I will be a step closer to my achieving my dreams”

NOW, Go out and do signs, wonders and miracles!
