Myself
I am an Aylesbury born and bred who loves a good laugh, I’m a hard worker having passed all my exams at school and going to work at Buckinghamshire County Council. I love playing football (I support Liverpool) and spending time with my 2 year old son.
My Studies
In June 2012 I finished my exams for various subjects at The Grange School, Aylesbury; these subjects included GCSEs in English Literature, English Language, Maths, Additional Science, ICT, Philosophy & Ethics and History. My main subject of interest was my OCR Business & Administration course, during this course, I learnt about: business enterprise and operations, finances, promotion, customer service and communication in business. I left The Grange School in June 2012 to find an Apprenticeship, 2 months later and I had started work with the Land Charges team at Buckinghamshire County Council.
I am currently enrolling into a Level 3 Business & Administration course which is a more advanced course from what I’m used to – Buckinghamshire County Council allow me to do these courses alongside my job role. This course should lead me to improve my leadership and supervisory skills while teaching me to run projects, prepare presentations, plan and implement innovation and change and use various software to create fairly complex documentation.
My Career
Immediately after I left school (June 2012) I started work at a small nursery and tree surgery business in Aston Clinton, however, chopping down trees and watering plants was just a temporary job until I had started my apprenticeship. I started working at Buckinghamshire County Council in August 2012 as an Apprentice in the Land Charges team which is located in the Place Services department. From this apprenticeship I managed to gain the skills and experience I needed so that by March 2013 I had been offered a full time permanent contract with Bucks CC as a Land Charges Officer.
Projects
I am currently taking part in a few projects that my team has been involved in such as editing our ArcGIS mapping system to show more and more highway extents. This will save us doing the work at a later date when we’ll be likely to be under more pressure. Also we have our Historical Highway layer which will be gradually coming off and being replaced by our Maintained Highway layer. I also work with the rest of my team with keeping everything we have on our GIS system up-to-date. This includes proposed road schemes, traffic schemes, outstanding notices, and Agreements; I also use GIS to map out new developments within Buckinghamshire.
I hope you have enjoyed it! Many thanks,
