ikeGPS Announces New ikeDesktop and ikeOS Releases

By Ron Elsis, V.P. of Product Management

ikeGPS is pleased to announce the latest revisions to our product line: ikeDesktop 2.0 and ikeOS 5.2.  These two products are critical components of ikeSolutions Poles for joint use attachments used globally by electric utilities, telecommunication companies, and their service providers.

ikeDesktop 2.0 represents a major step forward with regards to our joint use pole measurement capabilities. All pole measurements previously done using our ikeAnnotate software can now be done within the ikeDesktop environment. ikeDesktop will serve as the backbone for a variety of measurement applications in the future.

ikeDesktop 2.0

Build forms, generate reports, and perform pole measurements easily and quickly with ikeDesktop drag and drop software

ikeDesktop 2.0 includes the following capabilities:

  • Poles that have been previously measured in ikeDesktop can be accessed at a later time should users need to measure additional items
  • The new zoom feature allows users to hold the Ctrl key and use the mouse wheel to zoom in and an out of a given location
  • Users can change the line color of the attachments
  • Users can now measure the width of the pole at the height of the attachment
  • Some of our beta testers are even measuring the width of cross arms (hint, the cross arm needs to be as close to perpendicular as possible to the camera lens at the time of capture)

Custom Forms

Generating custom forms is as simple as dragging and dropping tools. For each tool you can easily change the name of the tool, select which fields are important to you, and customize the icon. Once completed these forms are deployed to your ike with the click of a button.

Reporting

Additional reporting capabilities are available within ikeDesktop 2.0. All data in ikeDesktop is exported in industry standard formats.

ikeOS 5.2

We have refined the photo exposure capability on the ikeGPS device. By using the left and right arrows keys you can easily adjust the exposure level to the current lighting conditions.

Since a calibrated compass is critical to accurate measurements in ikeOS 5.2 we have improved the overall compass calibration user experience. We recommend that users calibrate the compass if they have travelled by air with the ikeGPS and also before any extensive joint use field data collection commences. This will ensure that angle measurements are in line with our specification. To download ikeOS 5.2 please visit www.ikegps.com/support.
