How I Overcame Depression Depression is a totally human emotion. If you have never been depressed even for one day, I would say you are not human. I’m not an expert on depression by no means. I can only draw from and speak about my own experience. For me, the times I have been depressed are usually external circumstances or things that happen or things that don’t happen that I think should happen or have happened if that makes sense. If you are like me you have HUGE dreams and aspirations. You are an entrepreneur to the heart and you feel deeply about your beliefs and you are a deep feeling person. In this blog post I will share with you How I Overcame Depression.
There was a time in my life when I felt like I was a burden to all people around me,
especially to people I love. It appeared that the only thing I brought to the table
was me always needing something. I was always the NEEDY one.
No matter what circle I was in (friends, family, work, etc.)
I was always the broke needy one.
I felt like I was sucking the life-blood out of everyone around me.
I felt like I was going backward and not getting ahead in life.
I felt this dark cloud of bad decisions and me paying for those bad decisions hovering over me.
I did not want to do anything but sleep and watch movies all day.
Have you ever felt like that?
I would drink on occasion but not to the point of alcoholic.
I can’t stand the feeling of a hang over so I typically stay away from those.
I never have and I never will take depression medicine.
I believe that medicine just makes you more depressed so you will come and get more drugs. Don’t you?
Here’s the thing about me: My depressions are short lived.
I somehow snap out of it. I start thinking about how
I have so much more to live for. I start thinking about my WHY.
Why am I here? Who needs me? Who needs me to fight?
Who needs me to WIN? I do other things to take my mind off of my depression.
I’ll listen to motivational music in my headphones and start writing
about how I feel deep inside in hopes that I reach someone else in the same predicament.
Who better to pull and carry us out of our depression than someone who just came out of a depression themselves?
Do yo feel relieved when you share your pain with someone who listens to you even if it’s a piece of paper or a word document?
I feel that perhaps someone else needed to hear what I was going
through and learn how I got through it so they can get through their pain so
I publish that content online in the from of a blog. I guess that’s what
separates the weak from the strong. The weak give up and the strong
keep pushing through each day speaking about and building from that
depression and realizing that something powerful awaits us on the other
side of those deep dark moments we all find ourselves in at some point in our lives.
The funny thing is that depression could happen to any class of
human rich or poor and everything in between.
I truly believe that ultimately only one person can free us from those
moments and that is the person we see in the mirror each morning as we brush our teeth.
I believe that snapping out of depression is a matter of making a split-second
decision to no longer be depressed but to decide to fight it and defeat it.WHY?
because we have other people counting on us to make
it whether THEY know it or not. For that matter, whether WE know it or not.
Do you think deep dark moments shape our characters?
I guess that’s what made me share this with you. I have the ability to snap out of it.
I can get undepressed in a day or so sometimes less.
I simply make a decision to get back in the game of life.
Get off my ass and push forward to a different future than others around me may see.
I put my tunnel vision back in effect, I put my head gear on,
I grab my boots and strap them bitches back up. I pick up my heart off the
ground and sow that mother fucker back up and I kick that depression in the face,
move it out my way, get a BIG goal and get after it again.
Isn’t that what winners do?
Aren’t you a winner?
Aren’t you powerful?
Well… say that shit?
I’m a winner and I’m powerful!
LOUDER…
LOUDER…
LOUDER…
Now go kick some ass, take no prisoners, and live your dreams…
