I just want to take a moment to introduce myself to you. My name is Dahlian Lamy. I was born and raised in the twin-island republic of Trinidad and Tobago. I am the eldest of six children, and come from a large family. My dad is one of seven and my mom is one of 16.

I’ve been living in the U.S. since 2000. While in Chicago, I got my bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Then I moved to accept a teaching position at a South Jersey university.

Professional Background

It appears that I was born with a stick of chalk in my hand and a crown of numbers on my head. I am a born educator! Professionally, I have been

– a high school teacher (math, physics, science);

– a college mathematics instructor.

I believe that I have the gift of simplification, and I strive to implement this whenever I’m explaining anything to someone. To be able to do that I have to first have a clear understanding of the subject matter myself. Once I understand it I can break it down to others.

That reminds me of an experience I had while doing my undergrad in EET at DeVry. One of the last sections we had to cover in an electronics course was called “Fuzzy Logic.” Our professor was usually very good at explaining his subject, but it became clear to us real quick that he wasn’t very comfortable with this section.

After the class session, other students were looking to me for clarification (that’s the reputation I have built). So, I spent the next few hours researching this concept on the internet, and I was able to find a number of sites that did a great job of explaining it. Armed with a clear understanding of the concept I could teach it to my fellow classmates in an easy to understand manner.

These skills of research and simplification, and others, I bring to the writing of my blog posts.

How I Got Into Internet Marketing

Long before I came to the U.S. I’d been interested in having my own business and being my own boss. My mom used to buy the National Enquirer on a regular basis and I was particularly drawn to the section on business opportunities.

Back then, the world was not as interconnected via the world wide web as it is today, so there wasn’t much I could do to follow up on any of the biz opps that interested me. Later, when I came to the U.S. I subscribed to some business-based magazines like Small Business Opportunities, Home Business Connection, and others.

I tried, and failed at, a variety of the biz opps presented in the magazines. I had a lot to learn about what was legit and what was not, as well as what would be a good fit for ME. That education did not come cheap!

However, since my primary (legal) reason for being in the U.S. was to study and get my degrees, I really could not put too much focus and efforts on having a home business. So, for a while, that idea got pushed into the recesses of my mind.

After moving out here to South Jersey in 2008, I had more free time on my hands and that old desire to be my own boss came creeping back in. As a result, I started looking into various types of home based business opportunities.

However, it was only recently that I FINALLY made the decision to stop gathering information and to start taking action.

What prompted that you ask?

The girl of my dreams (with whom I have been in love for over 15 years) dumped me! That event shook the earth under my feet and forced me to take a long, hard look at myself. I saw that I had been putting off my needs and desires for too long. It was time to go after them, and that’s what I’m doing right now.

My Main IM Affiliations

The reality is that we don’t fully know if something will work for us unless we’ve given it an honest try. With that in mind, I began signing up for a few different opportunities, some with a low start-up cost, but others requiring over a thousand dollars to get started.

A few of them I quickly knew weren’t going to work FOR ME, but were good opportunities in themselves. I’ve narrowed my list of affiliate programs down to two that I am currently focused on:

I do not see either program as better than the other. They both have their “pros and cons” as far as start-up costs, required time investment, and community culture are concerned. I encourage you to check them out and decide which one feels like a fit for you.
