Staying Focused on the Internet!

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

Wow I don’t know about you but for me this is tough. Come on Facebook alone you could waste a whole day between talking with friends joining groups and then there are the games. (But I really don’t play them) Not to mention all the cool Apps and FanPages sheesh what is a guy or gal to do?

Then there is your Email if you’re like me you have to many email addresses to count and get bombarded with email everyday with the cool new tool for marketing. As well as all your friends and family trying to stay in touch sending pictures and letters and so on. Just these two can burn up a day! I know I have done it!

That doesn’t even include if your Marketing and start searching than see an interesting Blog are Forum and get so involved before you know it 3 hours have gone by and you have not done a damn thing. Oops sorry I swore lol. But it can become frustrating especially if you are doing this part time.

Then there is Skype and Instant Messenger ok I don’t use instant messenger but I know there is a lot of you out there that do and it can be just as big of a distraction if not bigger than Facebook. Ping hands shaking who could it be what do they want omg can’t take it got to look and bam 1 hour gone just bsing next to the Internet Water Cooler.

Does all this sound familiar?

Come on be honest you have done it!

I know I have and like an alcoholic in a bar you tell yourself it’s all good I got tomorrow to start all over again! But tomorrow comes and bam it happened again and before you know it a week has gone by and all the goals you set for yourself you didn’t reach and all because of distractions and you not being focused.

So what can you do about it?

Is there a simple solution?

Well here is what I do and yes I know it might not be perfect but it is my way and it works for me.

Facebook

Email

Instant Messenger

Is my time not my business time so I don’t waste my time in business time. So if you want to be successful in this industry know the difference. When you first get on the computer make sure you have your list of what needs to be done allocate time for each chore. Set an alarm clock are a timer to go off when you are supposed to be done. Turn off Skype, Instant Messenger and your Cell Phone don’t worry you have voice mail and your texts will show up when you power it back up and Dear God do not even attempt to log into your Facebook. After each chore allow yourself fifteen minutes of Relax and Refresh time as I call it. Again set your timer and do what you want to do for those fifteen min. But let’s make this clear those Fifteen Minutes are not included in the Three Hours of business time for part timers and Eight Hours of business for you full timers! Just know 4 breaks equal an hour so I hope this helps you stay more focused I know it does for me and now I don’t even need a timer (pat pat patting myself on the back) Lets stay focused and achieve our goals and meet on the beaches of the world as Dave would say.
