Football, American or European?
That is a good question, American football or European football? I can honestly say I love both of them. Being born and raised in the USA, I have gotten a lot of flack for my love of soccer. I have heard it all,”Soccer is a sissy sport, soccer isn’t a real sport, soccer sucks…etc.” Well, all those people can pound sand, as far as I am concerned.
Just about everyone of those people have never even tried playing European football and probably none of them have ever played at a semi-competitive level. Soccer is a very challenging and rough at times, sport. There is quite a bit of strategy involved and it most certainly is a sport that relies on team work. Those not in very good shape will not be staying in the game long or even seeing time on the pitch.
American Football!
America’s favorite past time, well, in the USA at least. This is also one of my favorite sports of all time. Redskins fan here…HTTR! I don’t want to hear it either, they used to be good. Skins are on their way back, they are finally appearing to do things the correct way in the back office. Anyway, American football, very tough sport, also takes a great deal of athleticism, strength and almost impossible to accomplish a victory without the use of great teamwork.
One thing about American football, it really is made up of three teams per actual team. I know, doesn’t sound right, but it is, at least in the professional world. You have an offensive team, defensive team and what is called, special teams. If you are set at all three, usually you are going to have a winning season.
European Football (Soccer)
Even though the US is on their 2nd professional level football league since I have been around, they seam to slowly be picking up popularity with the sport. The addition to our national team actually starting to do well in national tournaments does help build the popularity some.
Tonight, I am heading out to watch our USA National Men’s Soccer team play Brazil at FedEx field. I am truly excited for this opportunity and I also get to share the experience with my son. You see, European style football is one of the most popular sports world wide. People will travel half way around the world just to watch their team play one match. Now that is saying something.
So, here in the USA, European football may not be as popular as American football, but as a worldwide poll, I don’t think there would be any comparison on which would be chosen as most popular. I am just on the side of thinking that we are all blessed to be able to enjoy both forms of competition!
Football, Soccer, Sissyball….whatever you want to call it, I am heading out to see some of the best players in the world put on one heck of a show, basically right in my own backyard. I feel blessed to be able to go enjoy it live and share it with my family and friends. This is why I felt compelled to write about this topic. Hope you enjoyed and took interest…now click some banners while I am out please! LOL
Thanks,
Brian
