England win the first Ashes test match in England
Wow, what an end.
Australia just lost the first Ashes test in England by ONLY 14 runs. It was a real scare for England after such a long last wicket partnership from Australia again.
Disappointment is apparent. Australia has lost on English soil yet again…
In truth, England deserved to win, they DOMINATED throughout the test match.
Both teams kinda sucked at batting through the whole match but there was so much CONTROVERSY throughout the match as well.
Here’s what the BBC reported:
James Anderson was England’s final-day hero as the hosts held their nerve to complete an astonishing 14-run victory over Australia in an unforgettable climax to the opening Ashes Test.
Amid unbearable tension, Australia’s final pair of Brad Haddin and James Pattinson took the tourists to the brink of victory with a partnership of 65.

There were two notable incidents from the test match. Both were incidents regarding bad umpiring decisions.
First controversial decision: Johnathan Trott is given out
Basically, he was given out when he shouldn’t have been.
The hot-spot creator even came out and apologised…read on…
Meanwhile the inventor of the Hot Spot system apologised for an “operator error”.
“Here is the absolute truth from our perspective in regard to the Trott incident,” Warren Brennan told the cricinfo website.
“It was operator error. My operator did not trigger the system in order to cater for the Trott delivery.
Second controversial decision: Stuart Broad is given not out after a clear edge on the ball.
This is just one of those things. It was an umpire mistake. The main thing it was a bad one,one of the worst for a while.

So what should Australia do now?
I have put some points together of what I think Australia should do now after the first AshesTest:
- We can take heart that we are playing a good style of cricket. I mean that under our new coach the players appear to be enjoying themselves again. The best performances come when a sportsperson is relaxed.
- We have found Ashton Agar (video from 7 News Australia)
- Finally Even though England won the first test match, we still have 4 tests left PLUS another Ashes series on home soil coming up in November!
So to all the disappointed Aussies out there, stick with it and let’s see what we can do to the ‘bloody poms’ at Lords.
