Idiocracy – the way of the future?
Recently I watched a movie called Idiocracy. I loved this movie I thought it was really funny!
The movie stars Luke Wilson, Dax Shepard and Terry Crews.
The story of Idiocracy starts off with Luke Wilson’s character is chosen to take part in an experiment.
The reason he is chosen for the experiment is because he is the most average person in the entire army, he has outstanding average-ness!
During the experiment they are basically put into a coma and have to sleep for a year…
Something happens to the army base and they are forgotten and are left for 500 years…
When he awakes, he is in an entirely different world…
This world is full of completely stupid people, advertising is everywhere and the world is in chaos…
The world is run by companies that bought out the government so now the world is run on ads…
Language has been reduced to slurs, abbreviated to fit as many words into less syllables one of my most enjoyable lines in the movie is “sh’up” something they always say instead of shut up.
This is the most popular show for countless years running… Note the ads surrounding the screen
I just think the whole idea for the movie Idiocracy is just great…
The world is movie towards this everyday I think, advertising everywhere and all most people do is watch TV!
Idiocracy – Now and Then
I have just started to read Wake up and Live written by Dorothe Drande…
This book was originally published in 1936…
To be honest there were plenty of words in here that I had to look up the definition…
The vocabulary in this book in much more varied than what we use today.
Language changes sinces 1936
So perhaps we have already started our journey to the future described in Idiocracy…
Either way Idiocracy is a really funny movie and I loved it!
