Refuel – Reset – Reboot – Rebound

Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.

I am one of many who work at home full time and, most of the time, I enjoy the experience. True, my wife says that I spend an inordinate amount of time staring at a computer screen, which at best is a distinctly isolating and unsociable occupation. I would argue that while I am doing things on my laptop, I am actually communicating with the rest of the world, either through my blog posts or through one of the social networks. But she isn’t convinced….mainly because it is all virtual communication and not tactile. In other words, I am not literally in a room with someone as I am with her, and if she wants to give me a hug she can do it anytime, whereas no-one online has been able to literally hug me – not yet anyway.

She also states that computer work seems never to end, which cannot be a good thing for my state of mind. At some point, she says, I should step away from it all and take some time out to relax and enjoy the actual and real wonders of nature. She insists that by doing this I will achieve a measure of tranquility that will ultimately enable me to work more productively. Who could argue with that? Perhaps we all need to get off the work treadmill occasionally to refuel our psyche, reset and reboot our system. Having done all this we can then rebound, and have perhaps a clearer vision of our goals and dreams. We can then work better and smarter towards those goals and possibly accomplish more.

Taking her advice to heart, I loaded up my camcorder and persuaded her to transport me to a local watering hole (not the pub this time!). Watch the video, letting yourself get caught up in the sensual aspects of it. By that I mean let your sense of sight and hearing work their magic, and let me know if you feel calmer, more tranquil after viewing it. Apologies for an occasionally unsteady hand and, as always, my quirky Brit humor (I was weaned on Disney)!
Well, are you calmer more peaceful or did the video totally stress you out? Hopefully the former not the latter. Anyway, please Comment, Like and Share this blog post on Facebook, Google+ and Twitter.
