How to use Pinterest to promote your business
Start by logging on to Pinterest.com
1.) Choose a username that is consistent with your business or products or services
2.) Upload a photo that represents you or your business. Make sure it’s a quality photo!
3.) Enter a bio about your company. You’re limited to 200 characters so make sure you are clear and concise with the message you are trying to portray.
4.) Enter your location.
5.) Enter your website.
6.) Click search privacy to off.
Once you’ve got your profile set up, now you can start creating boards on Pinterest
You want to create a separate board for each product or service that you offer. From there, you upload pictures to each of your Pinterest boards.
Here are some ideas for Pinterest boards to get you started:
- Your products– you could create a board for each individual product or brake your products down into categories and create boards that way
- Your services– same as above
- People– the people you work with, maybe a short bio about each person
- Your work space- your office, building, cubicle, whatever!
- Videos- if your company has a YouTube channel, or if there are videos on YouTube that go along with your business, post a picture of it, add a title and in the comment/caption area put the link for the YouTube video
- Your blog. If you don’t have a blog already, you are missing out on serious traffic for your business (don’t believe me? check out the statistics) Seriously though, get your blog- it’s already set up for you- you just have to start posting.
- Other (non-competitive) products. If you’re a real estate agent and if you know a good “stager”, repair man, etc use a picture of them or their company logo and provide their contact information
- Inspiration. Post photos of beautiful things, motivational quotes or humor. Part of marketing is to entertain, so don’t be afraid to show some personality.
- Books. Just about any industry has its share of books, whether bestsellers or relatively unknown publications. Create a collection of your best recommendations so people can look to you as a reliable source of information
- Sales. If you’ve got a coupon or special offer, turn it into a graphic and pin it.
- What is getting traffic. What else on Pinterest is getting a lot of traffic? Dream homes, exotic vacations? Contribute to those conversations by adding boards there as well
