Lessons From My Dream…

My eyes popped opened in the wee small hours at 3:30 this morning and there was no use trying to go back to sleep – it never works! So, up and at ‘em with coffee and laptop . . .

Maybe it was the dream I had that nudged me to wakefulness. It had a couple of crystal clear messages – easy to interpret . . .

We were camping in a place that had a fantastic hiking trail which we decided to tackle. We read the descriptive information and eagerly planned the hike.

When we found the trail head, we discovered we had to climb a very steep gravel hill to get started. Game on! Off we went – filled with excitement, adrenalin pumping, hearts pounding as we ran up the hill, using all the energy and agility our middle-aged bodies could muster.

At last, With the last ounce of strength, one final push, we hoisted ourselves to the top ledge, gasping for our breaths, legs and arms trembling, feeling pretty darn proud to have accomplished such a trek!

Just then, a park ranger came by and said, “sorry, you can’t continue – didn’t you read the instructions?”

“What?”

“No sandals allowed,” he explained. “You’ll have to go back.”

Sigh.

End of dream.

Hmmmmmm . . .

Lesson #1:

Have you ever rushed into a decision on impulse rather than taking the time to gather more information and understanding?

Yeah, me too. Lots of times. Over and over.

The lesson returns to me over and over . . . slow down, read the details, double check, find out more . . .

“You gotta wear closed toe shoes for the hike.”

If I had only read ALL the instructions, I would have been prepared and could have continued on the adventure. Instead, I had to go back and start over.

Life offers lots of “do-overs” . . . for that, I am grateful.

The lesson? – prepare, read, learn FIRST, then take action.

Lesson #2:

So, what do you do when you’ve pushed yourself to the limits and then find you have to start over?

Many just give up – take their cookies and go home. In fact, statistics show that in the internet marketing and home business world, about 97% of people do that . . . quit at the first sign of failure, the first time something doesn’t quite pan out like they hoped it would.

That leaves 3% who get up and do it again . . . and again . . . and again.

I’m determined to be in the 3% club . . . never giving up, always trying again, recalculating and reformatting my actions.

The lesson? – never, ever, ever, ever, ever, give up on your dream. No matter what.
