Marketing and being of service

I’ve been learning more about online marketing in the last few days. I’m also starting to see how the Empower Network is really more than a blogging system. For those of you who don’t know, the Empower Network is a company that offers an authority blogging platform (like the one you’re on now) that people can use to market their products/services, build a personal brand, or as an affiliate, refer others to purchase the EN blogging system & training products and receive a commission.
I believe affiliate/network marketing is the business of the future as technology is bringing us closer and closer together as a global community. Many entrepreneurs such as Robert Kiyosaki have spoken in favour of this type of business. It just makes sense…instead of exchanging your time for money like a robot, you can adopt a product, and make that product work for you.
Company owners love this model too because they’re realising that, because of technology (Facebook, Google, Twitter, Linkedin, etc…) people are listening more to each other now, than they used to ever before. The internet has taken the power from big companies who can afford prime time TV commercials, and given it to the average Joe with a computer and internet connection, like me and you… Talk about a flip…
Anyway this is what this industry looks like on a business level. However under the surface the affiliate/network marketing is really a personal development platform.
Marketing and being of service
In addition to learning about online marketing, blogging, SEO, lead generation, sales etc. being in an industry that requires you to grow as a person is not only rewarding financially, but rewarding in the relationships you have in life. I find myself paying more and more attention to how I’m relating to others.
Now it’s not always easy, as I can be somewhat introverted at times, which isn’t the best mode to be in when carrying out business and marketing.
It seems to me that to be a successful player in the marketplace (online/offline) requires a balance of introversion (self-development) and extroversion (service). People usually classify themselves as one type or the other, but I think we’re all ‘ambiverts’ with special gifts/talents in one side or the other…but we can tap into both whenever we choose.
I noticed myself make the switch just this morning. There is actually an energetic shift when you go from thinking…
“What does this person want?”
to
“How can I help this person?”
I think it’s important to not mistakenly interpret this as self sacrificial gesture to prove ones goodness, but more like a simple shift in attitude that can actually increase your good feelings and over time and in the right system, increase your income. Give it a try.
I think this is also known as the law of Karma –>’What goes around comes around.’
or Newtons third law –> ‘For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.’
…It’s this law of the universe that proves that rich people can’t be evil (to debunk a common misconception).
Anyway, I dropped my agenda to this morning to temporarily help someone on the phone get some information, and although resistant at first, it turned out to reward me with a sense of accomplishment. I think this attitude of service is a trait that all successful people display.
This is another one of those practices that we never stop doing… like bathing hopefully.
Give it a try, you might be surprised at the reward (tangible/intangible).
Stay strong,
Brian Morris
