I Visited him in Federal Prison–The Law of Attraction

Written by Michelle— My experience with a Federal Prisoner is going to be an ongoing series of blogs. It is my hope that by writing about this great experience, it will help someone out there.

I am going to give you a background of myself and Chad, whose name I have changed.  I am a Christian.  I know many of you out there have a belief in a higher being, the Universe, or some other spiritual awareness, but what I believe is that there is truly a God, Jesus Christ our Savior, and the Holy Spirit.  They are separate beings, working in unison.  I believe that faith is an actual power.  An energy.  I believe that we have guardian Angels around us.  I believe that by righteous living, one can be guided by Deity through thought and events that happen daily in our lives.  Things don’t just happen by mistake. Meeting up with a federal prisoner did not happen by mistake.  I was guided to this experience for many reasons, which I wish to share.

Several years ago, I met my best friend, who I wish to call Mary.  We were brought together by our husbands, who were both in book sales young in our marriage.  We spent a few months together in Las Vegas while our husbands did their sales.  A couple of years previous, I had discovered that I had a unique gift of being able to “tune” into people.  Some call this a Medium, although, I am able to tune into those who have passed on as well as those who are still alive.  Along with the gift come side effects of clairvoyance, accurate future predictions and “seeing” past experiences through the eyes of other people.  I hold this gift very close to my heart and do not practice on any professional basis, but upon being prompted by the Holy Spirit.  I believe it is a divine gift for helping others.

As I developed my relationship with my friend in Las Vegas, I told her and her husband about my gift.  Their first experience with my gift involved Mary’s father, who was still alive and well, who I never met.  It was kind of the proving ground for my gift with them.  As our friendship continued in the years to follow, I have had many experiences with their family members who are deceased.  I believe I was given the gift of my friendship with Mary for not only the obvious reasons, but for the very purpose of helping a family become whole again.

Mary has several siblings.  Her older brother, Chad, was a very successful, productive individual, who knew how to invest in properties and he carried a full lucrative full time income, as well, working for a major corporation in Salt Lake City.  At one point, Mary and I lived in the Salt Lake area as well.  By now we had 5-6 children between us and one day we decided we needed a break.  We asked Chad if we could have an overnight visit with him to “get away” at his elegant home behind the Capitol.  He was single, and in awe of us, had mercy on us to give us a little break from the children.  That is the first time I met Chad.  I do not believe I ever saw him again for almost 20 years.

Life took Mary and me different directions, but we try to meet as often as possible and communicate every day like our lives depend on it.  Approximately 10 years ago I found out from her that Chad was in jail.  It was in a passing conversation, and I didn’t have another thought about it until last September when she told me that he was in the Federal Prison. From that moment on, I could not get Chad out of my head.  I was compelled by the Spirit to communicate with him.

I am not a prison visiting individual.  My life is very peaceful; some tell me I live in a bubble in the Heart of Utah.  I am surrounded by goodness.  Granted, our community has its problems, but overall I live in a pretty safe environment with a lot of neighbors that hold pretty high standards, attend church and live what they believe.  It isn’t within my comfort zone to go visit someone in the Federal Prison, however, that nagging feeling would not be dismissed within me.  I HAD to visit Chad.  I knew that I was being guided by the Spirit to do so.  Deity had their reasons, which were not logical to me.  I have learned from many experiences in life that you do not ignore the promptings of the Spirit.  The consequences of ignoring it can be hazardous.

So, following in the concept of the world’s newest phrase, The Law of Attraction, it became apparent in my life that I needed to contact Chad.  I re-introduced myself in a letter to him.  I didn’t save the copy of the letter, but I do have his response, which I will include in an upcoming blog.  You have to come back and read the continuation.

In the meantime, I wanted to leave you with this performance that my friend Mary shared with me.  I believe it is one of core principles of embracing love for fellow man, as well as love from God.  That is how I perceive the words and it applies to what I am doing visiting a man in federal prison.
