Family Bonding Time….What does it mean to you?

Modern day family bonding time is different than it used to be. At least it is in my family, and many people I have spoken with. Growing up, my whole family was always home to have dinner. We waited for my father to come home and we would have daily dinners, that mom would cook. We would sit around the table each night as a family enjoying our meal. When I think back I feel that I was lucky to have had that family bonding time.

In modern days, at least in my family, we are rarely all home for dinner. My kids have sports practices, jobs, homework projects and different schedules. There are only a few times a week we can all sit down together. I do my best to make sure we make time to have as many meals as we can as a family. I believe it is quality family bonding time.

Besides have meals together, there many more family bonding time opportunities.

In my family I always try to engage my family as much as possible in each others activities. I guess it is easy in our case because all three of my boys wrestle. We use these events, long matches, overnight tournaments, and evening meets, to attend them all as a family as much as we can.  I can’t tell you how close we have come as a family unit because of this wrestling and the family bonding time it has created.

Family bonding time also includes special bonding time within the family.

 As a mother who works from home, I am able to help facilitate more moments with each family member. Creating special bonding within the family is just as important. My kids have good relationships with one another, and with both my husband and I.

I am so thankful that I have an opportunity to work from home. I found a way to be at home and make money at the same time. This definately allows me to help create more family bond. For example, I have hade the opportunity to go to an overnight event my kids, and have some quality one on one time, with out having to ask my boss! I am able to drive my son to school and pick him up which give us that special family bonding time.  I can help at school events and be a presence in my children’s school life.  I can be home to prepare meals for the family so we have those family bonding time I had as a child.

Everyday I get to work on my own schedule. I as so fortunate that I found Empower Network.
