The secret to being successful is your associations.
If you want to really become more successful at anything you just need to get around the people that are already successful in that area and get around them.
Think about it. If you wanted to be the greatest guitarist in the world, what would you do?
You would listen to the greatest guitarists in the world. You would go see them live. You would order their books and videos and study them.
It is no different in any other area. If you want to be rich. Get around rich people. If you want to be a great internet marketer, get around the best internet marketers. It is that simple.
The disconnect is that most people are living under the “lottery ticket” mentality when it comes to success. They are constantly looking for that one magic “lottery ticket” person to instantly bless them with riches and success.
In reality, the effects of getting around successful people works more like the life long influence of friends and family that has made you who you are today. You are like your parents not just because of genetics, but because of daily conditioning to all their personality traits, opinions, and habits. You picked these things up unconsciously.
The same will be true when you start to associate with whatever group of people that you want to be like. Hang around a drunk all the time, you’ll become like a drunk. Hang around a poor person all the time, listen to their advice, and do what they do and you will become poor over time. On the other hand, if you hang around a millionaire, you will become, unconsciously, like the millionaire. Hang around hockey players and play hockey and you will become better at hockey.
The question then becomes, “If I don’t know any rich people and I want to become rich, how can I get around them?”
You do this by reading their books, watching their videos, and attending events where you can meet them.
You can become anything you want to become and the secret to becoming successful starts with associating with successful people.
