Warning – Reading The Wrong Melaleuca Reviews Might Cost You

Millions of people sign up to join different MLM opportunities that they come across on the internet and usually 98% or so fail to make a dime online.  There are several reasons of course but the complaints are always about the same. One of the things I’ve noticed when you use the search engines to find out about a company and looking for an honest review, they tend to be a few paragraphs of fluff material and then a sales pitch with an affiliate link to join. Melaleuca reviews are no different usually, so I’m going to give you a real first hand review because I’ve actually been in Melaleuca and I’ll tell you if it’s worth your time and effort without any BS hype involved.

Melaleuca Complaints/Melaleuca Reviews/Melaleuca Success/Melaleuca Reality

In 1985,  Frank VanderSloot founded Melaleuca, Inc., a multi-level marketing company that sells environmentally friendly cleaning supplies, and personal-care products.

Customers buy directly from Melaleuca’s website or retail locations and “independent marketing executives” receive commissions from Melaleuca for each purchase made by people they refer and by people their customers refer, through seven “referral generations”

The facts are that, yes, the company has a solid business model that has been around for quite some time and there are people making money as “independent referral marketers”. The products are good, and they are environmentally friendly which again is a good thing. I agree that chemicals we use from the grocery store like the Pinesol’s and the Ajax and other cleaning household products probably affect us negatively over a period of time more than we know and maybe Melaleuca’s products would be healthier in the long run as they claim. The thing is, a lot of people including myself are not overly fond of all the products because they do give off a distinctive odor that I just really don’t like and that is my problem with the products. Millions of people love the products and that is cool too.

The other problem is that, yes the products are quite expensive, but again, if you like them then you probably don’t mind the price. And to be fair,the products such as the cleaning products do come in concentrated form so you can use less product and perhaps save some money. And again on the downside, you get auto-shipped products monthly whether you want them or need them.

As for the MLM business opportunity part, the experience I had was fine except it felt more like working for someone rather than working for yourself. As in other MLM deals, you’re expected to be on all training calls, which are not really training calls, just calls that try to encourage you to cold call 100′s of people a day to sign up.

Basically, the main marketing method is being on the phone, cold calling as many people as possible to build your down line. First you’re encouraged to call your warm market which means friends and family members. Of course this means usually, not getting invited to future Christmas parties(lol).

Now, this isn’t a problem as I’m a firm believer that in order to truly believe in what you are promoting you should at the very least own the products.

Compensation Plan Melaleuca Reviews and Income Stats

Okay, so when it comes down to how much money can you make as a referral marketer, it really depends on how good you are at selling the dream or the product, or both. (income disclosures and compensation plans at bottom of this article) I’ll be honest with you, it ain’t easy especially if you don’t particularity like being on the phone. The training on how to pitch and close a deal just wasn’t there, and what training I managed to find was weak at best. Basically I was told over and over to go to my warm market, and then cold call people out of the phone book. Funny thing was, I managed to sign up a few people that first couple of weeks but I was under pressure from my “coach” every day.

***This is an important point I need to make. I’ll be honest with you, I had a problem with a few, what I believe were unethical things I was being told to do, like harvesting other mlm companies’ affiliates to come and join us. I decided that it wasn’t worth feeling bad everyday about what I was doing when I got an email from a nice lady in another mlm company telling me that I should be ashamed of myself and that my business ethics were disgraceful. After I read that, I felt sick because my gut feeling about what my coach was telling me to do was indeed a bad thing. At the time, being new I didn’t know what I didn’t know and so I quit that business that day. I sent out an email to my down line apologizing for getting them involved and asked them to not hold the company itself at blame because each independent referrer is responsible for how they conduct business. I just made a decision to not operate in a manner that is obviously wrong.
