Don’t be scared. You’re going to be an awesome Empower Network Speaker
You’re going to have to get on stage eventually because Empower Network is going to make you a lot of money so eventually it’ll be your turn to become another powerful Empower Network Speaker but public speaking is so scary isn’t it? Nope, it’s really not and people should stop perpetuating that myth. The only time I can see it being a pain in the ass is when you’re talking to a hostile crowd or in a corporate or official capacity but that’s not what I’m talking about here.
I’ve done it and it’s awesome! I spoke at several events as a motivational/coach/comedian for a wealth creation coaching business down here in Australia and I got a rousing reception every time. Why? Because I was just myself. I’m not that funny and the only thing I’m qualified to do is be a welder so when people saw that I (as an ex welder) was up on stage entertaining a room full of (up to 800) people they relaxed and enjoyed themselves.
You’re going to love it. Here’s the trick… speak from the heart and know that your audience loves you. Walk up on that stage as if you’re walking to into your kitchen – with complete confidence and total lack of fear.
Easier said than done – right? I mean how can I expect you to become a power Empower Network Speaker (which you will be) when public speaking ranks right up there in terms of the things we are afraid to do. Whether it’s the fear of being watched closely by others, or the insecurity and self-conscious feeling of slipping up during the presentation but all these things are irrelevant with Empower Network because no one cares!
I mean, look at David Wood, the guy walks up on stage with a tank top and bare feet, he talks on stage as if he’s talking to you in real life and that’s how you’re going to be. Remember, every single person listening to you is proud of you and WANTS to hear your story. This is a vastly different atmosphere than a hostile or corporate crowd
However, if you the type of person who insists on being 100 prepared for everything then these six tips will help you give a polished, professional speech that you (and your audience) can be proud of! You’re about to become a memorable Empower Network speaker.
1. Know your audience. This is the single best piece of advice for delivering a presentation. What are there interests? Their backgrounds? Why are they coming to hear you speak? What ideas do you have to share with them? Approaching your speech as more of a “me-to-you” discussion rather than a full-blown broadcast makes it less stressful.
Well this is easy with Empower Network isn’t it? The audience is like you! They are motivated, excited, and pumped up and frankly you could talk about cabbage and you’d get a standing ovation!…lol But seriously, you know what they want to hear; they want to hear your story so they can see that you’re just like them. They want to know any tips you can give them. They want to know what attitude you have and they want to know that you believe they can do it too.
2. Share a story. In public speaking circles, this is called a “hook” – something that gets your audience’s attention and makes them sit up and listen. Start off by asking questions or sharing an experience you had. People like to be active, rather than passive listeners. By giving them something that they can identify with, you’ll find that these people are just like you; that makes giving a presentation a whole lot easier. Be sure your story has a beginning, a point, and an ending. There’s nothing quite as bad as telling a story to an engaged audience and then forgetting why you told it!
If you keep these 2 simple tips in mind, you’ll not only have an easier time overcoming your fear of public speaking, but you’ll have a very appreciative audience who will in turn be more receptive and eager to try your product or service. Go get ‘em!
