Why I Believe the Matrix is a Metaphore Of Real Life and How You Can Escape It

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.” ~ Apple Inc.
Why I Believe The Matrix Is A Metaphor Of Real Life
If you’ve seen the Matrix you know the scene where Morpheus gives Neo the choice between taking the red pill or the blue pill. If he takes the blue pill his life will continue the way he has always known it, but if he takes the red pill Morpheus will show Neo what the Matrix really is.
(STOP: Watch the video clip above right now if you haven’t yet to see what I’m referring to, but let me warn you, once your mind is opened – you can never go back.)
Fascinating video clip isn’t it?
I see this as a metaphor for real life because most people just go through the motions of living their lives believing that this is all their is to life, and continue going through the daily grind day in and day out.
Forbes.com says 71% of employees hate their jobs and are not engaged in their work. Are you serious?
What kind of world are we living in where the majority of people spend their days doing something that doesn’t excite and motivate them, but stresses them out to the point of being depressed and left unfulfilled? Being surrounded in a negative environment where the majority are unhappy is sure to spread to you, which can leak into every other area of your life if your not careful.
Why do people put up with that?
Is it that they don’t know what they want to do with their lives, or is it that they are to afraid to do what it takes for them to do that which excites and motivates them? Maybe the majority believes that that’s just the way it is and they just need to suck it up and deal with it. cause “that’s life.”
On the contrary, we have the control to stay in a life we hate and believe that this is the cards we have been dealt. Or we can dream big dreams and create a life by our own design, a life that we have always dreamed of….. the choice really is ours!
Wouldn’t you prefer to live a life on purpose rather than just going through the motions? I thought so. Continue on with me to see how you can get that spark back into your life, find your true calling and do something that you can truly be proud of.
How To Break Free From The Matrix
As far back as I can remember I always had the feeling that something wasn’t right and that there had to be more to this life then what we have been born into, and if you’re still reading this you probably have the same kind of feelings. Am I right?
There are things all around us that are outside of our control that are designed to keep us in a state of fear, obedience and oblivious to what is real and what is truth.
What are these things outside of our control?
- The Government
- The Media
- The Public School System
- Our Jobs
- Our Upbringing
- ETC.
What are the things that are in our control?
- Our beliefs
- Our thoughts
- Our actions/behavior
- Our words
- Our feelings
- Our dreams and goals
- Our passions
Here’s a few ideas that you can take to get your mind working on what you really want your life to look like.
1.) Grab a pen and paper: Start brainstorming about what you want your life to look like. Don’t worry about being perfect, just write down what comes to your mind as you can always make changes and add on to this list and even rewrite it at any time. The main goal here is to get you thinking outside your current circumstances and free your mind to whats possible and what you really want.
Here’s some key areas to get you started.
- Family/Friends
- Health and Wellness
- Work/Business
- Hobbies
- Where would you live?
- What kind of car would you drive?
- What would a typical day look like for you?
2.) Condense Your List: Now that you have written out a bunch of ideas of how you would like your life to look like you will want to take the ideas that stick out to you and scrap the ones that don’t. Now you can write out a good copy from those chosen ones and focus on what is really important to you.
3) Review your goals on a daily basis: Go over your goals twice a day, once in the morning and again before going to bed. What you want to do is envision that you are already living the life of your dreams like it is the in present. The more you think about what you really want the more you will see it and eventually you will believe that you will without a doubt that you will have it.
4) Develop A Plan: Now that you know what you want your life to look like start to think about what you need to do to make your dream life a reality. You don’t need to know exactly how to do it, you just need to start to move towards your goals and be aware of the people and things that come into your path that can help you to get there.
4) Take Action: Last but certainly not least, you need to TAKE ACTION! Your dream life is not going to appear over night but now that you have a vision and a burning desire to accomplish what you have started and the belief that you will have it, nothing can stop you!
The amazing thing about making goals for ourselves and having a dream, writing them down and reviewing them on a daily basis repeating them once in the morning and again before going to bed, is that your subconscious mind will start looking for ways to accomplish those goals. Opportunities will start to present themselves to you in incredible ways that you never though possible. When we make a decision we start to attract people and things into our lives that can assist us in our journey to get to where we want to go.
My desire is that this blog post gets you to think outside of the box. If you are unhappy with where you are in your life I want to encourage you to start living your life by design. Get out of the “Matrix” and start living the life you truly deserve and Dream Big! I believe in you.
So in closing what pill are you going to choose, the Red Pill or the Blue Pill?

I totally agree with you on this William! The Matrix is the perfect example that we can choose to change course in a moment. Thanks for sharing.
Wow William, a very thought provoking post. I loved it. Keep up the good work. If this doesn’t get someone to think about the changes that they should be making then nothing short of a fire under their butts won’t do it either, LOL
William, I love the Matrix, thanks for sharing this! Let’s work together to break people free of the Matrix! 🙂
Great post Bill! I love the movie’s Matrix, it is so much like real life! There is a system operating that we were never intended to be a part of. I choose FREEDOM! Thanks for laying out your action steps as well! 🙂
Yes, the matrix was an awesome movie and the red pill vs blue pill is a great analogy for how we do live our lives, most people really do go around and accepting where “The stack of Cards” left them so to speak, but I like the idea of shakng up the stack and letting them fall where they may like 52 card pick up but know I still control the outcome.
Incredibly thought provoking and spot on post Bill! Love how you broke down the action steps to really put your dreams into motion. So glad we broke free from the matrix and are now living our lives with passion and purpose. We’ll never go back! Everyone needs to apply the knowledge in this post in their lives to make a change. Truly transformational value shared here. Excellent! Just excellent and a must share! Thanks a ton for helping others break free! You ROCK! 🙂
i believe the matrix does imitate real life.
