Know Your Worth

For years and years I have always offered in the past to do some type of work for free.
Don’t get my wrong helping people is absolutely necessary. However not knowing your worth will limit your capacity for growth and increase your ability to increase your wealth.

Not Worth My Time And Effort

When I was first coming up as a DJ. I would start looking for parties. I would be so enthusiastic about getting a shot that many times I would just perform for free. Now this is okay in the very beginning. However if you don’t begin to understand the value you are providing you will continue to do this long after your value has increased.

As I got older my skills improved greatly. I also had the opportunity to play with some famous people.
Now. It’s funny that the people who you consider close to you, and you honestly believe know your worth, would offer to pay less then your value.

However anyone who is a DJ will tell you that time and time again they are asked to do things as a “favor” or for some ridiculously small amount of money.

When deciding how much your performance is worth (and this can be applied to many other businesses) you must consider how much money you had to spend for you to gain your ability.

If you ask me to DJ now I know exactly how much to charge you. If you offer me less. I will simply refuse. Why. Because I know the true value of the service I am going to provide is greatly going to outweigh the amount of money that you will pay.

Education is Worth Your Investment

Here is another great example of this. Say you run a business. For example the Empower Network. Let’s say for instance you go to college. You are going to spend depending on the school 20k a month for 4 years. When you complete that school you are going to have to get a job that is not going to be for a lot of money. But you make an agreement for a school to give you knowledge that you know is valuable and in turn will make you more money in the long run. Don’t forget about those loans.

Another great example  is when you go to open a physical storefront for yourself. You will have to buy many things to fill your store. You will spend money on marketing. You will make mistakes. And all this money you have to spend because you know that when you succeed, the time and money you spent was worth the investment.
