Is Teleportation And Time Travel Possible Right Now

Ever since I was a young boy I have been fascinated with the idea of time travel and teleportation. H.G. Wells “The Time Machine” and Star Trek fueled my imagination.
As a boy I spent hours reading. I read every time I had the opportunity. When I went to the library I constantly searched for books that were time travel related. I would then escape to “my fort” which I built inside of a woodpile where I would read for hours. I would also climb my favorite tree and disappear for hours taking only breaks to do chores. I suspect that my parents knew where I was. Well, maybe they did, maybe they didn’t!
I continued to immerse myself in books and movies through the years. I can’t tell you how many times that I watched H.G.Wells “The Time Machine”. Watching him perfect his machine, talking with his friends and work on convincing them that his machine is real.

His first journey took him to 802,701 A.D., where he meets the Eloi, a group of small childlike adults. They live in small community within large ,futuristic but deteriorated buildings. They seem to have a carefree life, doing no work and having a diet of mostly fruit. He has a hard time communicating with them and they lacked curiosity or discipline.He speculated that they are a peaceful society, the result of humanity conquering nature with technology, and that they evolved to adapt to an environment where strength and intellect are no longer needed for survival. Then he decides to go home and finds his time machine missing. He eventually determines that it has been dragged by some unknown party into a nearby structure with heavy doors, locked from the inside. Later in the dark, he is approached by the Morlocks, who live in darkness underground and surface only at night. Within their dwellings he discovers the machinery and industry that makes the above-ground paradise possible. He probably would have done better not to travel so far into the future.
Another book that is fabulous is “The Time Travelers Wife” his travels through time connecting and reconnecting with the woman that he would marry during different times in her life. It is a love story about a man with a genetic disorder that causes him to time travel unpredictably, and about his wife, an artist, who has to cope with his frequent absences.
We certainly cannot leave out “Back To The Future”. The film tells the story of Marty McFly, a teenager who is accidentally sent back in time from 1985 to 1955. He meets his future-parents in high school and accidentally attracts the attention of his future mother’s romantic interest. Marty has to repair the damage to history by causing his parents-to-be to fall in love, and with the help of scientist Dr. Emmett “Doc” Brown, he must find a way to return to 1985. His mode of time travel, A Delorean that can jump through time at exactly 88 mph.
Oh, by the way speaking of awesome time travel books I can’t leave out Stephen King’s book 11/22/63. a book about a time traveller that goes back in time to attempt to alter the outcome of President Kennedy’s death… I really should not go into detail on this one! Buy the book! It is worth every penny!
Both television series Flash Forward and Fringe also have an underlying time travel theme. I look for it everywhere! I gravitate towards it and would love to have the ability to travel in time myself. I would not take huge leaps but I would like to experience life in the victorian era the 1890′s . I would like to walk the streets of the wild west! I would like to see the Titanic as it leaves dock headed towards the murky depths. I would choose to experience Woodstock!
I also would be thrilled if we could find a way to teleport rather than airport, What if we could shave all the time in the airport and in the plane out of the equation? What if we could have dinner in Paris and be home in time to sleep in our own beds?
I believe that if these things are not possible now (which they could be) that they will be possible in my lifetime. I look forward to the future but would choose to travel to the past.
I look forward to getting off work and teleporting someplace warm in a different time zone so that I can enjoy something other than evenings after work!
