Fun Post About How Three Amigos Save the Day!
Ok, not these Three Amigos, but some very special guys in my life none the less.
This post doesn’t have anything to do with business or really giving value…just a short story I felt like sharing…this is Flea btw.
I actually had a dream the other night reliving this very story about the Three Amigos and felt like maybe I was supposed to share this for some reason that I’m not aware of at this time- so I am.
This is a true story though…from my past. I’m proud to share it too because although it was a long time ago, it touched me. I hope you enjoy it.
So, here it goes…Three Amigos Save the Day!
It was either Thanksgiving or Christmas in 1980…can’t remember and when I asked my Dad, he couldn’t either. You’ll have that as you get older. Haha!
That aside….us women and me being a little girl were busy in the kitchen chatting and cooking. My Grandpa Zimmerman, Uncle Norman and Dad decide they needed to go fill up the car at the gas station. Hence the Three Amigos!
So the Three Amigos were expected to go and come right back as most places were closed and no one was really on the road due to it being a holiday-but they didn’t come back. It seemed as though time stood still.
We waited and waited on the Three Amigos to return, finally maybe an hour later they come in with a wild story of bravery and selflessness.
Let me preface this by saying, my Grandpa was a German, short stocky man who was a preacher and the same goes for my Uncle Norman. Very short stocky men, both preachers who taught love and forgiveness and just had huge hearts, but at the same time…they didn’t take crap. They were manly men who weren’t afraid to stand up for what’s right, even if it meant getting physical.
My Grandpa even enjoyed watching boxing matches on t.v. from time to time and thankfully it paid off on this day.
The Three Amigos proceed to tell us what happened…
They go to the gas station and my Grandpa goes in to pay for the gas, while my Dad was pumping gas and talking to my Uncle, (this was way before prepaid pumps.) My Grandpa sees two men fighting inside and without thinking, jumps in and attempts to break it up but one of the guys is just completely out of control, strung out on some type of drugs.
So, then there’s three of them battling it out. My Uncle looks over to see what’s taking Grandpa so long and sees him fighting with two guys inside so he runs over and gets in the fight too. The Three Amigos!
They finally put the pieces together and realized that one of the guys, the one who was hopped up on drugs was trying to rob the gas attendant. So, all in all..it took all Three Amigos to contain the guy until the police arrived.
In reality the Three Amigos saving the day comes down to the gas attendant, my Grandpa and my Uncle Norman.
Meanwhile, my Dad continued to stay with the car. He admittedly said when we discussed this story the other day that he was just too afraid. He never has been a fan of violence.
All was well with the Three Amigos at the end of the day because they saved a man’s life and got a criminal to face consequences. Yippee-Kai-A! They were true heroes!
Fast forward a few weeks and my Dad, Grandpa and Uncle have to go to court to testify against the robber and just happened to run into an old friend that my Dad went to school with clear in another town at least 2 hours away who was there testifying against the very same robber whom had recently hospitalized him from his attack. CRAZY!
That friend had barely escaped with his life and was still recovering from the attack so it’s a great thing this criminal was now off the streets thanks to the Three Amigos and their bravery! Can you tell I’m proud? Haha!
I was so amazed that my little old grandfather and my little Uncle were so selfless and helpful. I will never forget that day and never forget the integrity and values they taught me even at such a young age. Stand up for what’s right no matter what! You just may save someone’s life and there is much reward in knowing you have the power to stand up for justice. Three Amigos! EI, EI, EI! Arriba!
I know it’s a short story but it made a huge impact on me. I’m thankful for the Three Amigos, my core values and my family.
