How to Blog Daily: Top Five Blogging Resources

You have heard all the hype about blogs and decided, I want to create one myself.  Problem is, what do I blog about?  For most people starting out, this is a very real problem and can, at times, cause “analysis paralysis”-where you get stuck in planning mode and never act.  A suggestion before you start, though.  Choose a general topic that your blog will be about.  This will be your niche.  For instance, if you are interested in fashion, you may want to create a fashion blog which will have posts on clothes, styles, hair, make-up, etc.  Having your niche planned out will help you in choosing what to write about on a given day.

To help get you out of this, I have created a Top 5 list of places to check out when you are starting your blog.

1. All Top

This site is amazing.  you look up any topic and you will instantly be given access to all the top posts about that topic!  No more guessing what people are interested in.  It is all right there!  Continuing with our fashion niche example.  You would search fashion in the search bar and be given multiple sub-categories to choose from.  The more specific you are, the more likely that people will find your blog and start interacting with it.

Say you decide from here to choose “Kids.”  Now you will be looking at blog posts dedicated to kids fashion!  What better group to be thinking about when you start writing, then parents!  Look through the articles and see what people are reading and then develop a topic yourself.  This will help with your SEO (search engine optimization) because you will see the titles that are getting the views!

2. The News

Whether you are looking for a local topic or a global topic, the news is constantly keeping up to date with current events…  Isn’t that their job?  I recommend finding one great news source and bookmark it.  Another great option is to become “friends” with that station on facebook and the great articles will show up on your news feed.  This can also be done on Google+ and Twitter as well.

3. Niche Specific Sites

Let’s continue with our fashion theme.  You will want to bookmarks to websites and set up following on FB, Google+, and twitter to fashion sites.  By doing this, you will have first hand knowledge about things that are happening in the industry and can quickly create a post about it.

 4. Targeted Keyword Research

Google seems to have everything you could possibly need these days.  If you don’t believe me, see all that Google has to offer !  One of those important tools is Google Keyword Planner. When using the planner, your goal should be to create “long tail keywords.” What this means is that you are trying to figure out the most words that people will be searching for when they go to Google.  For the most part, people will enter in 3-5 words, but the longer your keywords are, the more likely you will show up in their search.

Back to our fashion example.  Once you have set up your account, you will click on the “What would you like to do?” tab.  Once inside, you will see something like this.

The first thing that shows up is the monthly searches.  Below that you will see, “Ad Group Ideas” and “keyword Ideas.”  I usually go to keyword ideas since it helps to expand your keywords by giving other relevant search terms.  Keep a ‘notepad’ file open on your computer and keep track of those keywords that get the best traffic to it.  Then develop a title that sounds natural and uses as many of your targeted keywords as possible.
