How To Become A Professional Marketer

Can you show me how to do that?”
That’s usually the question I get after explaining what I do for a living. It’s either that or a bemused look on their face.
After all, what we do is kind of weird.
When you tell people you make money online, without any kind of formal training and you work whenever you feel like it; people get confused.
It doesn’t make sense in their paradigm.
This post is for everyone who really wants it.
The serious people, who will do whatever it takes to become a professional marketer.
By professional marketer, I mean making a full time income. Living life how you want, from your online business.
Start with the right mindset and goal.
Most of the big marketers I know; all have a big reason why they’re building their business. They know why they’re doing it and they’re committed to doing whatever it takes.
People who say ‘I’ll give it a go’ don’t have a real reason or goal. The kind of people who say I’ll just start a blog and see what happens. Winners make a decision to do whatever it takes; because they have a reason.
Before you start the journey of becoming a professional marketer; you need to make a decision.
A commitment to never give up. The right mindset means knowing why, and making a commitment. It means creating a plan, a strategy, knowing what you’re selling and how much you need to sell to create the results you want.
Know who you’re speaking to.
You have to know who you’re talking to.
Me, I talk to Network Marketers, and anyone who’s serious about making lots of commissions online.
My content speaks to those people, and tells wussies to run home and hide under their pillow. By crafting your marketing to speak to a particular group of people, you get more people buying.
Develop a style.
Your marketing is mostly content. Videos, blog posts, emails – all content.
If you want people to listen to you, you need to develop your own style.
Yes, this means you can’t use those default autoresponder emails you. Trying to copy gurus is also a waste of time. Most marketers copy everyone.
Or they ‘get inspiration’ from other content.
Now I don’t read a lot of blogs, nor do I subscribe to many email lists. It’s because I think most marketers are full of bullshit.
Most people in this business don’t have anything to say. They don’t have a unique voice, they follow this dumb strategy:
- Look at what’s popular.
- Copy it.
- Make it slightly different or better.
They do it for their product launches, their emails, their blog posts, their videos. So 99% of the content out there being created by marketers is all very similar.
If you want people to read your blog and open your emails, use your own voice. Stop looking at other people’s blogs and emails for inspiration.
If you’re not an authority on anything, your content is going to suck for a little while. That’s okay, because it’s a natural part of the process.
Over time, by blogging daily you can develop your own unique style and focus.
Routine
If you want to create results consistently; you need a routine.
For me it goes something like this:
- Wake
- Eat
- Exercise
- Work
Pretty simple routine. The point is you need to make time for your daily marketing activities. You need to write for your blog each day, write emails to your list each day and sometimes do hangouts or webinars.
Fit your strategies into a routine, and stick to it.
Become obsessed with creating your vision.
If you want to be around for a while, and create the results you want; you need to be obsessed with your business.
When you’re obsessed with creating your desired outcome, your vision; you unlock all the resources you need to create it.
When you think about something all day and night, you inevitably find solutions to problems, and experience creative breakthroughs.
It’s how you learn the secrets. Staying up late at night, studying, researching.
If you have a plan and follow these guidelines, and you’re still not creating the result that you want…
…don’t blame yourself, don’t blame anything.
You created it, and you just need to adjust your strategy.
Each time you change your strategy, you create a completely different outcome. If you didn’t create the results you wanted last year, don’t repeat the same strategy this year.
Change the strategy again, and again and again.
Remember, you are responsible for your results. You created your life, and the way to change it is to focus persevere.
The people who are willing to fail at enough things, are the ones who eventually create what they want.
Blog daily.
