Blogging Time Wasters

Every day thousands of people are blogging online. Most are doing so with great intention while others are clueless and fall victim to the blogging time wasters.

We try to do our very best in communicating to our audience. But then there are some blogging time wasters that have been crippling online business success. I want to share 3 of those time wasters so you can overcome them and get a lot more from your blogging experience.

First and foremost, I would like to clear up what blogging for your online business means. Too many new online marketers or business owners will start off excited and energetic with their blogging.  On average, after only 3 months of blogging, most will lose the motivation and others quit because they are not getting the results they planned for.

Blogging is for sharing valuable content and information to your audience that will be interesting, entertaining and helpful for them. This leads into the top 3 blogging time wasters which you can overcome once you understand what you are doing and how you can change it.

Blogging Time Wasters #1 – Too Much Content

While some bloggers will say that you can never create too much content, this could be one of the biggest time wasters for online marketers and business owners. When you spend most of your day creating content for your blog, that eliminates critical time to market your business. Instead, develop a blogging schedule with a specific amount of time each day to write, post and publish your blog posts. Only set aside 20% of your time to blogging.

If you are a part time marketer and only have 2 hours per day for your home business, then only schedule about a half hour for your blogging. When you are first starting out you may think you need more time, but when you set a time limit it actually will help your online home business success.

As you do more blog posts, they will become easier and you will be able to blog more efficiently.  And when your business is in profit, set aside some funds for hiring a writer or a business assistant to post and publish your blog posts.

Blogging Time Wasters #2 – Sharing Content The Wrong Way

This might surprise you but most bloggers I speak to will tell me that they don’t seem to be getting anyone visiting their site. I ask them why they think that, and they say because they don’t have many followers on their social sites. This is a big blogging time waster when you want more readers to your blog, sharing your content only on your limited social sites will not produce the results you are looking for.

Sure you may get some people that may click a link on Twitter or Facebook if it is a good attention grabbing topic, but generally speaking, understanding how sharing your content properly will soon bring more eyeballs and visitors to your site.

There are a couple of things you can implement into your day and this is a critical part of your marketing plan. Take your blog posts and share them with your list each day or every other day or some business owners create a small newsletter. Your list are people that have already raised their hand to say they wanted information from you.

Another way to share your content is to get involved with blogging syndication groups. You can find them on Facebook, LinkedIn and other forums. You can do some research on each group and select one to start off with.  There are also sites that are looking for good, fresh content to share with their audience, so don’t be afraid to email the site owner that is within your niche or industry and inquire about submitting blog posts to them on a consistent basis.

Blogging Time Wasters #3 – Creating “About Me” Content

One of the biggest mistakes I see some bloggers make is they write about themselves, their experiences, their life and so on.  While it is good to inject your personality into your blogging, always talking about yourself is a huge blogging time waster. That is because you will not attract your audience and when they see that your content is one sided, they will not return.

Instead, start off with what you want to share, maybe tell a personal story, but end it with solving a problem, giving them some interesting information that they take away valuable insight that will help them in their lives.

When you start putting the importance on how your audience will benefit from the content that you are sharing, that is when your blogging will increase visibility, interest and traffic to your site. Turn it around and ask questions, put out survey’s, graphs and share helpful videos. Doing this will help to turn around even a blog that you may have abandoned or worse, that you quit from.

Overcome Blogging Time Wasters

When you can realize what blogging time wasters you can change for your online home business, taking action to turn it around can be made.

Look….People want good information, they look for valuable tips to solve their problems or things that will entertain them and make their life more interesting and fun. So remember that when you are writing and blogging, it is to real human being with feelings just like you and me have.

Let me know if you found this information to be valuable and will help with your blogging time wasters. Also, share this with others that may find this helpful for their online home business success.
