Become The Example Entrepreneur For Your Kids

Young or old I believe this online work from home, network marketing industry is paving a way for our kids and generations to come…but only if we take responsibility and become the example entrepreneur.

I enjoyed creating the short video, brought back memories of our ‘one and only’ son, Jason!

From the day he was born, even though I never realized where I would be today or that I would even be writing about being an entrepreneur and to become the example entrepreneur for our kids, we are very proud parents for many reasons.

By the way, this is the same little boy that sparked that first turning point in my life when he asked me…. “Mom, when will we see dad in the sun“!

You know, even when we don’t think they are listening, they really are!

Yes, our kids listen to you as a mom, dad or as parents.  And when they are young they focus in on what we say or do.  We set examples whether you are aware of it or not.  Before our son was born, I would read to him almost every day.  And then when he started talking he still enjoyed reading.  We believe this actually helped him be an honor roll student all through school and even his 2 years of college.

But there is more to this story….

Not only are we proud parents because we taught him things about money, saving and investing but because of my 22+ years in the real estate lending industry, he also learned how important having good credit. 

In June he turns 22 years old…wow, time flys!

And so today he skyped message me saying that he put down a deposit for an apartment, as he had been apartment hunting for a couple of months.  He told me that the rental office pulled his credit report.  Now just a year ago he tried to get a loan to buy his motorcycle with the bank he has his checking account with.  They pulled his credit and said he ‘had no credit’ and couldn’t help him.

So he saved and paid CASH for his motorcycle.  That was a proud moment for us.

But today, even more proud when he told us that his credit score is 751!  For a kid that had no credit a year ago, he took my advice and got a credit card with a very low balance.  I told him to go buy something!  He bought some clothes and things.  And then I recommended that he make payments for a couple of months.  Which he did.

Setting the example and helping our kids to be responsible not only about money, but to be aware that they have a responsibility to themselves that neither me or my husband could help him when it came down to ‘being on his own.’ 

It’s one of those days that as a parent you feel proud, happy and grateful to know that your kids were listening, learning and becoming the responsible adults you hope they will become.

Now of course our son isn’t perfect.  But experiencing little things like that just makes my heart smile!

My purpose, intention and hope that someday all future generations will become more aware of what being an entrepreneur is and that they have choices.  They can choose to be that successful entrepreneur rather than fitting into what society puts onto our children as they grow up in school.  I look forward to contributing to this industry and being part of bringing that awareness to everyone.  Our kids deserve it!
