Are you one of those people who hits the snooze button a million times in the morning only to end up shutting it off completely? Do you want to make a change and learn how to become an early riser? If so, there are a few steps you can take to make an easy transition from night owl to morning person.

Start With Baby Steps

Don’t push yourself too far too fast. Start off by setting your alarm clock fifteen to twenty minutes earlier each week. By the time you reach your desired wake-up time, you’ll be inclined to naturally wake up at the time you desire. You can accomplish this by moving your alarm clock out of your reach. This stops you from the pattern of “snooze and lose.” Try leaving your blinds up; letting the natural sunlight into your room will alert your body to wake up.

Make It A Meditative Experience

Becoming an early riser offers new experiences you may not have considered, one being able to watch the sunrise. Wake up to beautiful skies changing color right before your eyes, and the promise of a magical day. Do a sunrise meditation to set the tone for the rest of your day. Follow up with some gentle yoga before showering. This is a much more humane way to awaken than jumping out of bed in a panic after hitting the snooze button four times. When waking up is a pleasant instead of a harsh experience, you won’t have as much resistance to it.

Get Up Earlier For A Reason

In Brian Tracy’s book Eat That Frog, he advises doing your most important thing first thing in the morning. If you’re getting up early to build your empire or realize your passion before going off to work, it will motivate you to want to get up. You will accomplish things that you never thought possible when you have that extra uninterrupted time in the morning.

There are many benefits to learning how to become an early riser. You’re more creative in the morning, which leads to greater productivity. By adding meditation and some yoga, you’re also more fit and less stressed. Starting your day in silence with only the sunrise for company helps you to become more comfortable and in touch with yourself. What are you waiting for? Rise and shine!
