Pinterest is a pin board style website. It’s one of the top sources for traffic online today used to promote a business, blog, or website. It’s also been one of the best sites used for brand building.
In a Case Study on Pinterest it was found that Pinterest drives more traffic than Google +, LinkedIn, and YouTube combined.
Users can create their own boards of selected photos and then browse for other photos to “re-pin” and like. It’s basically a visual/picture based micro blogging community that drives massive traffic.
Pinterest was put into development in 2009 and launched in 2010. It was founded by Ben Silbermann, Paul Sciarra, and Evan Sharp. It is funded by a group of entrepreneur/investors, and is managed by Cold Brew Labs.
Pinterest has quickly become one of the leading social networks for driving traffic and getting referals.
In August 2011, Time magazine listed Pinterest in its “50 Best Websites of 2011” article.

As you can see by these 15 stats about Pinterest there is a lot of money to be made on Pinterest, and there is a ton of traffic to be directed.
I personally use Pinterest to drive traffic to my blog, and it has been one of the best sources I use not to mention one of the most entertaining and addictive.
