Thoughts On The Bugs I Have Seen . Part 1
Restored from the Empower Network archive (2011–2017), lightly edited to meet our current advertising standards. Views are the original author’s.
Note: With the data migration from the Version 1.0 to Version 2.0 Platform, I have noticed several changes and have decided to create this blog post series (that’s useful for me personally) so that I could refer back to previous posts that I have created).
As I have started doing this.. a thought came to mind, too… so on my ENV2 Blog, I created a “Category” by Month and went back to previous blog posts and tried to add that category to each of the posts as well. (my “workaround” :-))…
And I found a minor “bug” or “issue” that can easily get fixed by the EN Tech Team, but I am documenting it here anyway, so that when the issue is fixed, I can add those posts here too.
1) Under the “SEO Options” area, under the META Title Tag, it is hard-coded to 60 characters… so if your original blog title is longer than 60 characters, one cannot do any updates on that specific blog post. (In that specific blog post, I wanted to add a category). I have noticed that holds true as well, on other blog posts where I want to add a “hard return” or if I wanted to fix the picture that looked okay in the previous version 1.0, but got misaligned on the transition to the version 2.0 platform.
My Suggestion to this is to “remove the hard code” of 60 characters from the script, (since it will automatically get cut anyway at 60 characters. This will affect older blog posts from coming out as a “broken looking” blog post (with the picture and paragraphs not aligned right).
I don’t know how many of my older blog posts have more than 60 characters in the title, but I will just document it here as I go along. (and will put this code (***) so I can go back and fix it later) 🙂
12/05/2013 Update to This #1 Item, I found a workaround fix for it.. I posted it on my 12/05/2013 post below, with a video tutorial:
2) At the Bottom of the Page, the “Previous” and “Next” Buttons … I have more than 400+ blog posts, the maximum number it would go is 87.. (December 1, 2012 post)..
It would be neat (faster, too) to have something like the picture below, where there is an option or a “field” where we can put the number to quickly jump to a specific page, like so:
12/05/2013 Update to This #2 Item, I just added the previous and next links at the bottom of my blog posts. :-).. as how you can see it at the bottom of this post. 🙂
3) For the November Blog Posts, when I added the “2012 – 11 – November” category, it was a “workaround” that I thought about doing so I can easily retrieve the links to older posts. (To date, I have about 400+ posts) and I found the clicking of the “next” buttons rather tedious if I wanted to put a direct link to an older post to the posts that I will be creating).
4) For the December Blog Posts, when I added the “2012 – 12 – December” category, it went okay, as far as the posting of the Category number, but it didn’t actually retrieve that first post that it was supposed to retrieve:
This is the result:
So, my creation of a “blog post per month” on a single page is going to be easier for me (it’s not exactly a breeze to do, now that I am on my second day of doing it, with the time I have carved out of my “blogging time” out of my “schedule” so I think I am just putting the time and patience in doing so and I am converting it to blog posts instead… 🙂 while listening to a positive audio. 🙂 – it CAN BE done, it is not impossible. :-))
