How to Get Your Blog Noticed…

You’ve read our 21 tips to writing a blog – next is getting people to know that it’s out there.

With more and more people and businesses learning the art of blogging and the benefits it has to promote businesses it may seem that getting noticed is becoming more difficult.

There is nothing more frustrating than writing an amazing article and not getting the traffic you had hoped for. No doubt you start to feel frustrated and consider giving the whole thing up.

You need to realize that in the real world, like anything else, it takes time for your identity to be established. For people to “get to know” you and your product. That’s where consistency steps in.

Blogging alone will not do it for you – unless you are blogging 20 articles a day (and who wants to do that). You need to be proactive and start marketing your blog and yourself on a regular basis.

We have four simple ways to get your blog noticed.

1. Social Media

Use your social media sites to promote your blog. Facebook is one of the largest sites and Google is now indexing Twitter pages so these sites are great avenues to expose your blog. Each time a blog piece is written, post a link in your networks and cross promote subtly. The aim is to encourage people to take a look, not turn them off with over the top promotion.

2. Comment onother blogs

Do some research and find blogs that relate to your business. Search for ones that are interesting to read! Start by looking at these on a regular basis and aim to leave useful comments if appropriate. Be creative with comments and provide value to the post. This way individuals who read this and are interested in what you say can click on your profile and hopefully the blog.

3. Guest blogging

Find out whether any of the blogs that you regularly look at have guest blogging. If they do, use this opportunity to write a guest blog as it is a great way to expand your image. Try to make an impact and reach out to communities that you otherwise wouldn’t be able to reach. You may also like to consider having guest bloggers for your blog. If they have a decent enough following this will be a great promotion.

4. Linking

Link building is a major reason for the blog becoming successful. Firstly, the more you link to other websites or blogs, the higher in a search rank you will appear. Secondly, the more you link, the more likely others will link you.

An Inside Blog Tip…

Here’s a surprise for you – it isn’t actually the content of your blog that gets rated on the search engines. The secret is that in fact it is the keyword that you use throughout your blog that gets rated. The trick is to target a keyword that is getting searched hundreds of times a month. Your content will need to be relevant to the keyword so it all blends together nicely. This is know as Search Engine Optimization (SEO) – and you thought it was going to be technical!!

Blogging cannot be seen as a “sometime” thing. It takes commitment to get noticed in cyberspace – it takes more time and patience than a Facebook page or Twitter. Consistency is the key! The rewards however will be well worth it as you will eventually be out there and been seen as a valuable resource of information for the niche you are aiming for.
