How a Little Support Goes a Long Way

It is amazing just how far a little support can go when someone is really in need.

Last night we took my parents into Sydney to see the “Vivid” Laser Light Show. What we hadn’t encountered was the fact that the rest of New South Wales had the same idea.

Amongst the chaos, traffic and people three young girls appeared to be stressed out – the fact that the driver jumped out of the car at the set of lights kind of gave it away.

When we got closer to the car we asked the young girls if they were OK. They told us that their car had broken down and they didn’t know what to do and were on the verge of tears.

Totally understandable as not only did they have a huge line of traffic behind them but an inconsiderate bus driver thought it would be a good idea to leave no more than about three inches between them.

We had noticed that their brake lights were dimming which was an indication that their alternator was on its way out. We told them not to panic – put their hazard lights on, lift the bonnet and get a couple of burly guys to push the car around the corner out of the onslaught of traffic behind them. At least this would allow them to stress less and make arrangements for something to be done about the car.

We assured them that everything would be OK and to just do as we suggested.

They were so grateful for the advice and promptly took action.

We would have stayed to help them except we were being abused by the car behind us because we weren’t moving fast enough for them.

A Little Support Goes A Long Way

Getting the Right Type of Support

We know that we have definitely welcomed the support of family and friends when we have needed it.

We aren’t talking about the type of support whereby you are holding someone’s hand guiding them – more about the right type of advice when needed; helping when assistance is required especially when you aren’t directly asked for it but care enough to give it.

We didn’t know these girls last night but it was obvious that they were in trouble and needed a little help. It is amazing how a few simple instructions can change someone’s perspective on a situation.

A Community of Support

Empower Network has the most incredible support system that we have ever seen. Not only from a business perspective but on a personal level as well.

There is always someone who is more than happy to help you when you need it.

We have found that for a change the general attitude is not “it’s all about me” instead “it’s all about us“.

We may be independent and be responsible for the success of our own businesses but that does not stop us from cross promoting each other because at the end of the day we are one team in support of a common goal.

This weekend has seen about 200 Empower Network members join Dave & Dave in Miami for a Mastermind Session.
