Here are sermon notes from Ronald:
Many ask What is Christianity?
Simply followers of Christ, but learn what makes a true Christian. Not always going through the steps and motions.
We will learn:
1. How are they different. Do Christians stand out.
2. Remind ourselves of the difficulties lie.
3. Learn benefits and rewards too.
Christians must be willing to sacrifice our lives. 2 Tim. 3:1-5 Reject the world.
Know anyone that boast or is proud?
People need to see us as Christians. Don’t participate in evil. 1 Pet. 4:1-5
Follow the example of Paul.
1 Cor. 9:19-23; Acts 16:3
Paul took Timothy and circumcised him so that they would listen to him.
1 Cor. 8:133. Eating meat sacrificed to idols Nothing wrong, but as your conscience allows it. If it causes you to stumble, then don’t do it.
Don’t go as far as to participate in sin. We are pilgrims in this world.
Parable of the wheat and tears: Matt. 13: 24
Both had to grow together, then at harvest, they were separated. Same thing will happen at the end of time.
1 Cor. 5:9-13
We must live in the world (Matt. 13:23-30, 36-43, 1 Cor. 5:9-13)
You can’t get away from sinners. You have to live in the world.
You will suffer persecution. 2 Timothy 3:10-15; John 15:18-20
If the world hates you , you know it hated Jesus first.
Christians Must Accept All Scriptures
Does that sound easy?
Knowing all the temptataions, and trials that come to you, nothing is easy.
What about extremes? Family disowns you? Willing to sacrifice your family or inheritance?
Loose job? Cheating people? People depend on you for income? Loose friends?
Don’t base being a Christian on emotion or feelings.
Why should we obey? Foolish if we don’t: Matt. 7:26
Fear?
Will be destroyed if we don’t. Satan has power in this world. Eph. 2:2 Those who follow him will be punished.
Matt. 25:41
Sorrow will come. Matt. 25:30
Torment will come. Rev. 20:10 If willing to sacrifice and follow scriptures, look to the rewards in this life as Christians.
Christian Family
The power of prayer and God’s provision. James 5:16; Matt. 6:25-33
Why do you not need to worry about your life?
Life is here for you to live. Live as Christians. Tomorrow will still be there and here to take care of us.
Eternal home in heaven. Rom. 6:23; 1 John 2:25
Promise is eternal life. Sing the song, This World Is Not My Home
Rom. 8:18
