Ronald’s sermon

Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed by lack of knowledge. Addresses the priest. Teaching the word of God, they were not following.

All need deep and diligence study of God’s word. Reasons excuses that keeps people from studying the Bible. Watch out of these attitudes so you can put in the work to study God’s word. Some people just have the lack of desire.

Proverbs 17:16 Why is their the hands and desire. Why is there the hands of the fool since he has no heart in it?

Proverbs 23:23 By the truth and do not sell it. Do everything you can to hold on to the word. Do everything to obtain it. We must be as new born babes. Desire that.

1 Peter 2:1-2 Hold on to it so you can grow. Many are willingly ignorant of the Bible.

2 Peter 3:5 willfully forget the word of God. Re-mindful of the word of God. Written to remind them of these things. They wish to remain carnal.

1 Corinthians 3:3 They were not growing the way they should. Babes in Christ. They were not growing and didn’t need more. They needed to develop into more meat. The desire was not there.

Reason 2

Seek to defend ones doctrine. Well, I want to do it this way. I can do it….

Their purpose is to prove what they believe is right. Example: Drink socially, not knowing passages that teach against this, or divorce, not knowing the passages that teach against it.

If you want to believe it, you may not take a passage out of context to go in your favor of your belief. An example is Balaam.

Numbers 22:18 This is what you must not do: Curse the people that are blessed

Baptism: Acts 2:38 People still want to take it out of context. Know what is all involved.

3. Reading without expecting to understand.

Some think it is a dark and mysterious book. We can’t all understand it the same way.

Example of sprinkling, or baptism of infants.

We must be emerged. The Bible is not plain enough? Show the truth, still think it’s too hard to understand?

Mark 12:37

How can David call him Lord?

Spiritually Jesus is His Father. Jesus existed before he was flesh. It wasn’t difficult for them to get across to them. The ones that were smarter had a harder time with that.

Matt. 13:51 Jesus telling parables and they understood because God gave the word. 2 Cor. 1:13 Paul’s not writiting to them. 2 Pet. 3:16 Things we need to know for salvation is easy to understand. Mark 16:16 Is that hard? No! You believe, be baptized, and you will be saved.

1. Eph. 3:3 Simple thing to do & you must understand that when you read, you will understand. If you say, thanks, I’m will never make sense to me.

4. Some read the Bible in order to impress people.

To show that they may all figure it out. Lust of the flesh, eyes and pride of life. Those that want to have power. They gain this knowledge. They read and study of these practices.

Matt. 23:5 All their workds to be seen by men.

2 Tim. 3:7 Always learn and be unable to come to the knowledge of the truth. Obeying Gospel, being saved, agettin ght emeat.

Studying to impress others.

5. People read without a system. Some just reads their faverite passages.

Why do they include Psalms and Prov. with New Testament Bibles?

People enjoy reading that. If people just read favorite passages., must study all of it. You read all of the Bible.

Matt. 4:4 Every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.

Ps. 119: 60 Entirety is from one truth. We need all of it. We must study with a system to study all of it. God will guide me. Open by random passage?

God won’t inspire you randomly… If you just opened your Bible and read, Judas was hanged, then… What you do, do it quickly… How can you just open the Bible to random scripture and be able to get guidance? Don’t randomly read the word of God.

6. Relying too much on men or preaching for understanding?

The congregation does not have true knowledge because they lean too much on the preacher.

Eph. 4:14, Col. 2:8, 18

Some rely too much on the books of men. Commentaries, etc. Straining of God’s word through another man’s brain. Some rely on another family member. Searching and studying on others instead of studying yourself.

7. Too busy?

Think they have other things to do. May be on the computer. Re=prioritizing in our lives may be in order. Tomorrow? Start fresh, Tomorrow never comes soon becomes today.

8. Many don’t read and study the Bible because they are LAZY!

Worst excuse than the others. Not wanting to get job done. Requires self discipline.

Proverbes 6:6-11 Sin of slugger stays asleep doesn’t want to do anything.

James 4:17 Anyone who knows the right thing to do, but doesn’t do it is sinning. Warn and strive to do better.

Don’t develop improper study habits. Be diligent about it. Have you read and learned what you need to do to be saved? Don’t delay and become a Christian now!
