Notes from Ronald’s sermon

Proverbs 6:16-19

Have you ever been scammed? We’ll my husband, Ronald has been scammed.  It really brings out your emotions. You get mad, frustrated, that you were conned into what they scammed you into. Why did they just lie to you in your face?

7 things that God hates:

1. Proud look

2. Lying tongue

3. Hands that kill innocent

4. A mind that things up evil plans

5. Feet that are quick to do evil

6. Witness who lies

7. Starts arguments

Purpose here is to relate the things God hates, the scoundrels today.

To apply this to Christians and to make sure that we don’t do anything that God hates.

God hates arrogance. The proud look.

We’ve been warned! 2 Tim. 3:1

Trust only in God. 1 Tim. 6:17

God resists the proud. James 4:6

So, the application here is to always be trusting in God. Matt. 6:1-4 Don’t “sound the trumpet.” Be like Jesus. John 13:1-17; Phil. 2:8

We are nothing without God!

Do you proove that you do more than another does?

Always remember to be humble.

God hates lying! Tongue and false witness, say what it takes.

1. False witnesses. Mark 14:55-59

2. Adam and Eve. Gen. 3:10-11

3. Ananias and Sapphira. Acts 5:1-10

4. Punishment! Rev. 21:8

False statement with the intention to deceive someone. Politics, survivor examples of where you will find consistent lies.

Gen. 3:10-11 Adam & Eve. Ananias & Saphira, struck dead.

Liars Rev. 1:8 Will have their punishment.

How can we apply it to Christians?

Your word is truth. John 17:17

The father of lies. John 8:44

Speaks from own resources. God only speaks truth. White lie? Big lies? Is the hurt any different?

We must always say what we mean! Be careful what you say, and always mean what you say.

Murder:

Cain in Gen. 4:8-10. Killed brother

David in 2 Sam. 11 Killed Uriah in the line of battle for his wife.

A mob in Acts 7:54-58 Murderers will be with the liars.

The application here is the rare chance a Christian murders. Watch our attitudes!

Be willing to stand up to murders like abortion. We must have love for the brethren. John 13:34-35; Rom. 12:15.

Planning Wickedness – Things God Hates.

Rich in Judah (Micah 2:1-2) How were they going to steal from the poor? That seems easy to me. They are already taking everything they have. Isn’t it more of a challenge to get the poor to find a way to be rich? Change their ways?

Joseph brothers in Gen. 37 and Daniel 6

Application here is to don’t take vengeance. Show them?  No! See Romans 12:17-21 Kill them with kindness.

Things God Hates: Running to Evil

Gehazi – 2 Kings 5:20-27 Run to righteousness! 1 Peter

Sowing Discord – Things God Hates:

Application here is to not to be deceived (Eph. 5:6-7)

Beware! Col. 2:8

Note and reject divisive people. (Rom. 16:17-18; Titus 3:10-11)

Gossipping? Hiding something?

Cause trouble in a group? Proverbs 16:27-28 Godly men diggs up evil. Whisperer separates the best friends. Things should be left alone.

Are you a scoundrel?

Know God Hates These Things
