Keeping It Real While Dreaming Big

Have you ever wanted something so bad… and felt like you were doing everything possible but still found yourself light years away from your dream?

Seriously.

Like you have done everything possible and still don’t feel any closer to where you want to be.

Well, it happens to a lot of us and there are many reasons as to why it happens.

And a lot of it comes back to keeping it real while dreaming big.

Keeping It Real While Dreaming Big Requires Belief

Keeping It Real While Dreaming Big

Here in LA, there are a lot of people dreaming big.

I hear tons of stories from various folks in the industry who plan to hit it big in television or film or both.

They get straight off the plane and start knocking on doors, sending out headshots and postcards, and are convinced that within a few short months they will be standing on the stage at the Kodak Theatre holding their Oscar.

Six months later those same people are frustrated. They’re venting and they don’t understand why IT hasn’t happened yet.

Well, maybe it’s because they didn’t believe it.

For Real.

Sometimes when we’re dreaming big it’s hard for subconscious mind to believe it.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge believer that all dreams are possible.

But let’s face it, it’s a huge jump from the tarmac to the Red Carpet on Oscar night…and in 6 months.
I’m not saying it’s impossible… BUT
…if you’ve never booked an acting gig before, the road to the Emmy’s may require a few more steps.

Keeping It Real While Dreaming Big Means to Set Yourself Up for Success

Dreaming big requires a balance of keeping it real.

In most cases you just can’t jump from A to C with out first passing point B.

Whatever your ultimate goal is it’s important to break it down in small chunks.

Set achievable goals and milestones. Set goals in a time frame that you believe is possible.

This way you will get some success under your belt and start to build momentum.

With momentum comes confidence and confidence in turn leads to more success.

I was reminded of that today.

I have been very pumped up after a big event I attended and came back on fire and ready to take the world by storm.

I set a goal that is bigger than anything I have ever achieved before.

And then I started procrastinating on stuff.

I started putting off some of the tasks that I had scheduled to do.

I couldn’t figure out what my problem was.

Until I had a conversation with someone who reminded me that you have to set goals that your mind can believe.

You see, it wasn’t the goal that was the problem…it was the time frame.  I was on the fast track to make things happen…in 3 months.

Kind of like winning an Oscar 6 months after arriving in LA with no credits on your resume…

Not impossible…BUT...

Set yourself up for success by creating a step by step plan that will lead to your ultimate dream.

Because it’s all about keeping it real while dreaming big!
