Are You Insane? Three Reasons Why People Don’t Get Results

Albert Einstein said the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

Too often in life, people don’t get results because they get caught in a routine and continue heading down the same path despite the fact that the path is not taking them where they want to go.

Why is this?

Well, a couple of things could be going on.

First, people don’t get results because what they have been doing has worked for them in the past. So they figure, ‘well it worked before, it will work again.’

That’s not necessarily true.

For starters times are constantly changing. The world evolves, technology evolves and people evolve. Old school strategies that worked 20 years ago, may not be effective today. But people keep doing them and wonder why they don’t get results.

Plus, consumers, in general, have a short attention span. If they think they have seen something already, they will be less inspired to come back for more.

(Unless it’s something like ice cream, in which case there will always be a line out the door. But, even ice cream lovers like different flavors.)

See what I’m saying. It’s important to keep things fresh and to always be thinking about how to step up your game and that takes….

WORK.

People don’t get results because they stopped working for them.

Yes, I said it. It takes work.

Why People Don’t get Results

You can’t just coast along doing the same thing day after day and year after year and expect your business or your results to explode by leaps and bounds.

If anything, it will start to move backwards because you begin to take for granted all of the little things you were doing that were making you successful.

Then people start doing those tasks with less enthusiasm and less passion and that starts to show through in their work.

(Translation: People don’t get results.)

People get comfortable in their routine and the comfort zone is the number one killer of success.

It keeps you from striving for more because…well…you’re comfortable.

Lack of inspiring goals is another reason why people stay on the hamster wheel.

If they had a real fire burning in their belly, they wouldn’t sit back and accept lack luster results day after day and year after year.

People don’t get results because they don’t dream big enough so they never truly challenge themselves.

And lastly, people keep doing the same thing over and over because they see those strategies work for other people.

First of all, let me say that ‘modeling,’ or following in the footsteps of the people who are where you want to be, is perfectly acceptable when you are getting started.

In fact, it’s a great idea!

If you are new and don’t know what you are doing, by all means follow the trail left by the people who have come before you.

But, you can’t model forever!

At some point, you will need to step out on your own…combine the skills and strategies that you have learned from modeling others and then make it your own.

Step up your game!

If you hit a plateau and find yourself stuck in the same place, something has got to change.

So change it.

You’re not insane… are you?

To get a different result, a more profitable and desirable result, change your mindset, change your strategy and go after your goal with renewed passion.

And that’s 3 reason’s why people don’t get results.
