Born On The Fourth of July

No not the movie starring Tom Cruise, well, ok, I thought that might some people to open my email and read this article. Sorry to disappoint, I have actually never even seen the movie, I know, most of you know I am a movie buff, so that is kind of weird. Oh, well, maybe I will see if I can find it on Netflix. Today is Independence Day, Fourth of July.

Born On The Fourth of July – Freedom is Not Free

Freedom isnt free and we should never forget how our ancestors fought for freedom, many died for the freedom we take for granted, born on the Fourth of July is a catchy title for this post, however I feel a strange sense each year as I celebrate with friends and family and think of the meaning of the Fourth of July as I remember the history lessons learned many years ago when the Fourth was just another day to me.

Every year my hometown has one of the best fireworks displays

fourth of july

The Wikipedia web site noted a strange random fact about the Fourth of July:

In a remarkable coincidence, both John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, the only signers of the Declaration of Independence later to serve as Presidents of the United States, died on the same day: July 4, 1826, which was the 50th anniversary of the Declaration. Although not a signer of the Declaration of Independence, but another Founding Father who became a President, James Monroe, died on July 4, 1831, thus becoming the third President in a row who died on this memorable day. Calvin Coolidge, the 30th President, was born on July 4, 1872, and, so far, is the only President to have been born on Independence Day.

Fourth of July – More Than Just BBQ’s and Beer

Not simply a day off work, a day of way to much food and maybe too much beer from some either, but a day we need to be thankful for, a day that our fore-fathers had a courage to do what must would not. Our country signed the declaration of independence and we were officially Born On The Fourth of July.

Most of us just kick back and relax on the Fourth of July and maybe eat too many hotdogs or drink too much cheap beer at the family BBQ, just remember the Fourth of July really should have more meaning in your life, after all you where born in a country that allows so much freedom, freedom to enjoy life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
