Everyone Should Try To Realize Their Full Potential
“We need to steer clear of this poverty of ambition, where people want to drive fancy cars and wear nice clothes and live in nice apartments but don’t want to work hard to accomplish these things. Everyone should try to realize their full potential”. – Barack Obama
Love him or hate him President Obama has a very good point here. Most of us all dream of having a better life but how many of us actually ‘jump out the bowl’ in order to reach our full potential.
On a personal level I can say without hesitation that although I live in a nice house, have three great children and a loving partner, there is an underlying ambition to achieve more, I really do believe that I have personally not reached my own full potential.
So what am I doing to reach my full potential? Well for starters I have stepped out of my comfort zone, working the cushy 9 to 5 that I have been doing for the past 14 years. I have set up a business working from home and I am giving it my all. I know this is fairly drastic, but I also know that to achieve my full potential I have to step into a place that is uncomfortable for me. The guaranteed income and the comfort of knowing exactly what to do are gone, but it’s the best career decision I have ever made and I know that with hard work and application I will realise my full potential.
Everyone Should Try To Realize Their Full Potential
I suppose one of the biggest issues I have with people in the world today is that we have all become so complacent. I see friends and family that are such a wasted talent and are nowhere near performing at their full potential. I can say this, I am practising what I preach, more people should think about what they are doing and decide if it’s what the really want from life. How many times a day do I hear, “I hate my job!” or “I wish I had more money?” If you’re reading this, ask yourself if this applies to you and have a good think about whether you are realizing your full potential.
So what can you do to realise your full potential? Well for starters you have to decide if you are realising your full potential, and what you really want to achieve in your life. You are not going to suddenly have more money in your bank account, and trust me that thing called a pension, do you really think that pension is a synonym for Luxury Cruise Holidays! Do you have time in your life to do all the things you really want to achieve, again it’s no point thinking you will have time to hike the Inca Trail when you are seventy-five.
The bottom line is that there are a huge number of us that are not realising our full potential and in all honesty we all need to take a long hard look at ourselves because we all have the potential.
This message may have some impact on you; it may just fall on deaf ears. I will say this however, in five years’ time I will look back and think to myself, I’m happy because I’m living my life to my full potential.
“All the information you need to succeed already exist; the only problem is you’re not exposing yourself to it.” – Jim Rohn
