I see people in Sales, “Referral Marketing” etc, trying to get more customers or recruits using the exact same phrases (methods) that has been used over and over for the past half century and hoping to be successful. You know the type: “You Want to Make Money Fast? Join Me Now!”
Please! Make your offers interesting…
Make them appealing…
Be aware that most people have difficulty to live with a mystery. They have to know what is “hidden”.
Find a way to create a “vacuum” that people NEED to “get filled” to be able to go on with their mind at peace.
Put yourself in the shoes of the person reading your offer and ask yourself if YOU would be intrigued and wanting to know more. If you would not, the chances are that most people will not either.

I met a guy once that explained to me that when he was a student looking for a summer job, he told his mother that he would find one sitting at home.
He did not want to go around under the hot sun, filling out application forms which the the front desk secretaries would simply throw away. He was a proud young man and did not want his name to be thrown in a paper basket…
His challenge was to by-pass the established bureaucracy and get in communication with the person really responsible to give him a job.
He sat down and figured out a way. He decided to be industrious instead of being just like everyone else.

He started calling companies from home.
He planned to call companies HE would like to work for.
His name is John Smith (fictive name for the purpose of this blog)
So the first place he reached, the secretary asked him the reason for his call.
He told her that he was a government’s representative wanting to talk to the person in charge of hiring students for the summer. That there was a new program that had been launched and he had to talk to the person in charge of hiring personnel.

No problem Mr. Smith, I am putting you in communication with Mr. …
When the person answered the phone, he very briefly explained the “program”. He stated that the goal was to help students find a summer job and encouraging the company he was calling to participate in giving a hand to young people courageous enough to work during the summer vacation instead of…
He guided the person’s attention putting emphasis on all the benefits of helping out the younger generation.
Sure! I’ ll give it a try the man answered him.
Super! I will send you someone trustworthy Monday morning if this is OK with you?
Totally! I’ll make sure somebody will be there to meet with him.
He started working for that company on the next Monday morning and 1 month later he was put in charge of a small department.
Do you realize that many of his friends were still filling out application forms. He had made money during that entire month while they were getting desperate and apathetic.
If he had used the exact same method his friends were using and that many student have been using for years, do you think he would have gotten that job that summer?

The whole idea here is to sit down, take a good look at what is the actual scene and be industrious enough to find an original way to honestly achieve your goals.
