MLM Success and Getting Lost. Is There a Correlation?

What does getting lost have to do with your MLM Success?
Well, stick with me for a minute and I share with you a point that I believe you’ll understand.
Yesterday I headed off on another vacation after welcoming my house sitter family and introduced their shephard to my doberman, Sierra.
(They’re already best buds!)
Sierra cracks me up. She knows that when my luggage comes out, I’ll be leaving and stays with my suitcase(s) by the front door.
She’s hoping I’ll take her with me!
I had to snap this picture. I was all loaded except for my computer bag and she’s right there in line to go. Too funny.
She’ll have a good time with her new friend and my house sitters are animal lovers.
So here’s how our first travel day went…
We had non-eventful trip to the airport from my home to Nashville (about 1.5 hours) because we’ve been there so many times, we know the route, we know the exits to take and the lanes to be in to arrive without a hitch.
We boarded a flight from Nashville to Washington, changing plans and landed in Albany, New York. We arrived without with a hitch.
So far, so good.
At the Albany airport, we rented a car and headed out with our map I printed out from Mapquest.
We only had a 38 miles to the Wyndham Bentley Brook resort in The Burkshires, Mass.
However, we had a glitch.
Half way there we came across a toll road and when we passed through, we had 2 choices of highways to take, neither of which were reflected clearly on MapQuest directions.
(I know, we should have opted for the Garmin).
Anyway, we found ourselves 30 miles out of our way and realizing the turnpike was not exit friendly it took us forever to turn around. Ever done that?
We called the resort who informed us we were heading in the wrong direction, found an exit and they brought us in through back roads. What should have take us 45 minutes from the airport to the resorts ended up taking 2+ hours.
During this little mishap excursion we had two choices. One was to get upset, the other was to sight see and make the best of it. Turns out we saw the most charming little towns, a couple of which we want to come back to this week to look around.
Once we settled in, we wanted to head to the grocery store to stock up for the week. (We have a travel club membership that allows us to stay in beautiful timeshare resorts without having to own the timeshare. I love this membership.
Anyway, we’re here for the week and it’s a fully furnished condo, 2 bed/2 bath, washer/dryer and full kitchen.
We brought our clothes, our laptops because we can work from anywhere and food and just ‘move in’. This is how you can live your life on vacation.
While we’re here, I’ll be playing a lot and working some.
Well, because we are rural where we’re at, the base of Jiminy Peak Ski Resort, it was 20 minutes into town.
As the sun was going down over the beautiful forest of Mt. Greylock, we headed back into town to pick up groceries for the week.
We found one of those grocery stores where they also were full service deli/bakery/wines and cheeses/seafoods/specialty foods and well, it was fun to pick and choose so many of our favorites.
We loaded the car and headed back to the resort.
Only now it was raining and super dark.
And we missed our turn.
For the second time today, we were turned around in an area that is not well marked.
We arrived back at the resort an hour later, by 9 pm I grilled some fish, steamed some veggies and hit the hot tub.
As I pondered about the days events a couple of thoughts popped into my mind in how it relates to business.
Fear of Failure = No MLM Success
New online marketers are fearful of a few things that keep them from moving forward or seeing their business or themselves as failures rather than celebrate all aspects of their MLM success.
Fearful of things like:
- making mistakes
- losing marketing dollars
- running a bad ad
- running a second bad ad
- losing more marketing dollars
- putting out a video that needs work
the list goes on.
When things don’t turn out they way they want them to, they look at failure as a loss.
When it fact, it’s their failures that will teach them what DOES work, all of which moves them toward MLM Success.
I can assure you if we had to travel from the Albany airport the Hancock, Mass, we would get there without a hitch.
I can also assure you that we can tell you what’s up and down RT 7, where the turn is for RT 43, the landmarks to look for to know you’re close, even in the dark of night.
Why?
Because we failed the first time. And twice in one day! We spent 3 hours of the day just being lost and seeing what roads DO NOT get us where we want to be.
Achieve MLM Success After Some Failure
In marketing, when you figure out what doesn’t work, you learn what does work. So marketing is never a failure, it’s a step in the right direction for your ultimate mlm success.
Have you heard the saying,
“If you want to succeed, fail faster?” We’ll, it’s true.
If you can approach your business with the idea that nothing is a failure, it’s all about seeing what doesn’t work to find what does work, you’ll have a healthier relationship with your business.
Practicing Disciplines for MLM Success Perks
It seems like with all the learning curves and failures to success with my online marketing, it makes it easy to adjust, be flexible, not worry or panic or even get grouchy when real life mishaps come along.
Like getting lost, not once, but twice!
One of the disciplines a marketer needs to learn is how to take failures, detours, obstacles, disappointments, road blocks and do two things…
1) Enjoy the journey regardless.
2) Trouble shoot and find another way to achieve their success.
Because it’s out there for all to grab ahold of. It’s just that so many people allow piddly little hiccups to derail them and they never get back on track.
