Gratirude
Gratitude is a feeling or attitude of acknowledgment, of a belief or a grace that we have received or we will receive. It is a kind of thankfulness or gratefulness or appreciation for the things, big or small, that the almighty God, the universe or your higher self, you name it as you want, has bestowed on us. Sometimes we take for granted what we have received, but if we stop and think about these things for a while, we will find that we live in a body with all our faculties, eyes to see the beautiful things, feet to be able to move as we wish, etc… We must give thanks for our strong healthy body, for all that is in us, especially that we have been blessed by our mind, we are able to think and distinguish the difference between the various things in this universe, a mind who is able to visualize, create and achieve great things, we are able to be or become anything we want. We must give thanks for all the things that are created in this universe and are at our disposition. “Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance.” Eckhart Tolle.
Gratitude is the most accurate and direct way of finding God in our life, and if our gratitude is real and big, our faith becomes bigger and stronger and we will feel that we are closer to the unlimited supply, unlimited abundance, unlimited love and unconditioned internal peace, and when we begin to feel this feeling, we will be able to obtain all the good that we desire.
Almost all the religions and old believe and writings, state that if people are grateful all the graces will be dawned on them. “Walk as if you are kissing the earth with your feet.” Thick Nhat Nanh.
Gratitude and well- being
Grateful people have higher levels of subjective well- being. They are happier, less depressed, less stressed and more satisfied with their lives, they acquire also higher levels of control, they aim at personal growth, they have a purpose in life, they accept themselves and accept others as they are, never complain about how the things are, they go with the tide and are grateful for all that arrives, they are conscious that there is always something to learn even in adversities, they obtain a clearer vision behind the apparent things. Here I would like to quote Ralph Waldo Emerson; “Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude. “
A grateful person has a positive way of coping with the difficulties, and try to gain experience, he responds and thinks of a solution for the problems, never reacts. A grateful person has a calm mind and his life is serene. He as higher levels of happiness; grateful people are generous and give freely because they are assured that there is abundance everywhere and that when they give they will get in return great dividends. They believe in the old saying which states; “from abundance he took abundance still abundance remain.”
Virtues of gratitude
According to the Greek philosopher Marcus Cicero,” gratitude is not only the greatest of all virtues but the parent of all others”. Multiple studies have shown the correlation between gratitude and well-being for the individuals and societies.
I close my writing today by the quote of Maya Angelo; “Let gratitude be the pillow upon which you kneel to say your nightly prayer. And let faith be the bridge you build to overcome evil and welcome good “
