Oscar Pistorius gets bail.

Twitter has been going mad this afternoon as people are listening in to the result of Oscar’s bail application. What I would have thought would have been a brief affair turned into a near two hour epic when the magistrate gave you the feeling that it wasn’t going to be allowed and then it was. As he said he is just the magistrate not the trial judge and in his judgement Oscar should be given bail with a number of conditions including a financial bail condition.

We listened to the whole thing on Google+ via a link from @Barry Bateman who over the last few days seems to have given the most factual account of events without some of the media’s hype and conjecture. This, to me, is where Twitter comes into it’s own by just giving followers 140 characters of the events as they unfold in front of him. As cameras were not allowed in the hearing he seems to be a reliable source of information.

What’s next for Oscar Pistorius

At the end of the day, it usually gets dark, it’s down to the court hearing later on this year as to whether intentionally killed his girlfriend or was it a case of mistaken identity and Oscar Pistorius thought it was an interloper who got in via a ladder into the bathroom. There are as usual various reports of shouting and screaming prior to the shooting but some of those witnesses were around 600 yds away. I’ve looked at the floorplan of his apartment and going by what I’ve heard so far he wasn’t aware that his girlfriend had left the bed and gone into the bathroom when he opened fire. No doubt all of this will come out in the formal trial.

Personally I’m pleased Oscar Pistorius got bail and although I feel for his girlfriends parents and friends I think it was truly just an accident. That’s my opinion and eveyone is entitled to one and I may bee proven wrong in this case. Time will tell.

Well that’s the beauty of working from home. I can keep up with the news as it happens. I’m not a great fan of listening to the doom and gloom but somethings are worth hearing.
