Any stay in the Dominican Republic should include time at your resort as well as excursions that take in the beauty, culture and diversity of the destination. The Dominican Republic continues to top itself in accommodations, with a choice of properties from boutique hotels to large all-inclusive resorts with all the must-haves and must-dos during a vacation. Though the activities and offerings can be nonstop on property, guests are also encouraged to add on to their vacation and venture beyond the environs of their resort.
The Dominican Republic’s Excursions
Excursions from the Dominican Republic’s resorts are packaged to make it easy to explore. For most, one price includes transportation, guides, entrance fees, equipment, snacks, drinks, and, often, meals. When staying in Punta Cana, an excursion to Marinarium, a marine park, gets visitors up close to coral and marine life. A protected snorkeling area even allows you to swim with sharks and stingrays.
Among the resorts offering this excursion is the Sivory Punta Cana Boutique Hotel. This 55-suite property focuses on quiet and relaxation for guests. A member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, the beachfront AAA Four Diamond hotel has a full-service spa and wellness center and an infinity-edge pool, with pool and beach valets to handle all requests. Many suites even have their own private plunge pools.
Guests can purchase a package that offers free nights and the Sivory Meal Plan for dining at the Sivory’s three restaurants based on a minimum stay to create an all-inclusive experience, including food, most drinks, an in-room wine cooler (a selection of 12 bottles of house wines in your suite, restocked daily) and 24-hour room service. The resort has an extensive wine cellar of 8,000 bottles.
Another Punta Cana excursion is a Jeep Safari, where you explore the countryside and see another side of the Dominican Republic via a 4×4 SUV. Some excursions include lunch and /or horseback riding.
With a variety of restaurants, bars and entertainment including a casino, swimming pools and a spa & wellness center, Grand Palladium Resorts in Punta Cana offers its guests tons to do on site, plus a long list of optional excursions including Jeep Safari. This large complex consists of 1,823 guest rooms and suites at three Grand Palladium Resorts and the adults-only Royal Suites by Palladium Resort. Aiming to make a stay at the property even better, recent refurbishments include 160 guest rooms at the Grand Palladium Bavaro Resort & Spa, as well as the Behique swimming pool and the buffet-style ‘El Arrecife Restaurant’. A new water park, snack bar and two new theme restaurants have been added to the property.
Another popular excursion available at many Punta Cana resorts in Manati Park ecological park. Swimming with the dolphins is among the activities offered, plus the chance to enjoy shows with horses, parrots, dolphins and cultural dancers. Manati Park is one of the excursion options for guests staying at Tortuga Bay, part of PUNTACANA Resort & Club – though at 15,000 acres and bordered by seven miles of pristine white-sand beach along the Caribbean Sea, the resort community is filled with its own activities and entertainment.
