Best Exercise For Weight Loss Ideas

best exercise for weight lossThere is strength training, where you can go to a gym and workout with free weights or use specialized equipment.  Pilates – which are a system of gentle exercises that are performed while lying down to stretch and lengthen your muscles, designed to enhance posture and flexibility. Yoga can also be practices and is described as “any of the methods or disciplines prescribed, especially a series of postures and breathing exercises practiced to achieve control of the body and mind, tranquillity, etc.”

Then there’s cardio. Cardio is said to be king when it comes to burning calories according to Michele Olson, PhD, professor of exercise science at Auburn Universtiy in Montgomery, AL.  Dr Olson states that “Any time you elevate your heart rate into the top end of your target zone, the extra fuel (aka calories) you burn up continues in order to bring your heart rate and muscle activity back to normal and to metabolize the lactic acid you have created.”

I think the answer is very simple:  the best exercise for weight loss is finding something you enjoy doing and be consistent with it.

Most people make a resolution at the beginning of a year, find the latest, hottest weight loss fad or program and start off with a DVD or video where you have to move all of the furniture out of the living room so you can have room to move around and burn fat and inches.

Walking, bike riding, hiking…these are just a few outdoor activities we can do to easily burn calories and help us lose weight.  Other than using or purchasing a bike, most of these are free activities.

One of the core commitments I practiced to help me lose weight was simply “moving”.  I parked away from stores in the parking lot to force me to walk additional steps.  I took the stairs instead of the elevator.  I took the “long” way when going from point A to point B.

Secondly, you have to be consistent.  Determine your goal, make a plan and then stick with it.  Consistently.  Everyday.  Every week.  Until you reach your goal.  If you falter and get off course – get back on and power thru.  Get a weight loss buddy and be accountable to someone else to help you get through the tough times.

I have practiced consistency and a few core weight loss commitments during my weight loss journey.  I’ve been able to lose over 50 Lbs and three pant sizes.  My family has lost over 100 Lbs and many inches. Click to find out more.  I would have to say that my best exercise for weight loss to practice consistent movement in my everyday life.
