I Enjoy Radio Controlled Planes

I know that flying radio controlled planes is viewed by some as a hobby for geeks and nerds.I am not a geek,and I am not a nerd,and I enjoy this hobby very much.I still need to learn a lot.I am definitely not as good as the guy flying the plane in this video,but I get a great big smile on my face every time I fly my own plane.I can’t do all the cool things this guy does,but I don’t care.I have fun.That is all that really matters right?

I was kind of stoked to see that Dor(the pilot) was flying a Precision Aerobatics plane.That is the same company that I bought mine from,although mine is a small electric plane.

I look forward to getting more involved flying my electric plane.I also want to get a small electric helicopter.I am not sure about the gas powered planes.I still need to learn more about them.

My first r/c aircraft was a small gas powered helicopter made by Lite Machines.It was a fixed pitch setup,and it was not equipped with a gyroscope.It came as a kit that had to be put together from scratch.It took me about 50 hours to assemble it.It was a great learning experience,and I had a lot of fun on the project.There is something very satisfying about doing something from scratch to a finished product that really works.I have always enjoyed things like that.

My Radio Controlled Planes

  I am currently in the process of building on of my radio controlled planes.It is a small plane made by Precision Aerobatics,called the “Electric Shock”.I am about halfway through building it.It only weighs about 13 ounces.I have seen several others at the local r/c airfield,and they look like a lot of fun.

My First R/C Plane

My first r/c plane was essentially a battery powered glider,called the “sky-fly”.It only has elevator and rudder controls,but is a great plane for beginners.The propeller is mounted behind the wing,set up as a “pusher” prop.This allows the beginner to crash it and not wreck the propeller.It’s a smart design,and very simple.The wing gets strapped onto the fuselage with rubber bands.It’s almost bulletproof.

A Good,Clean,Fun Hobby

I think this is a good,clean,fun hobby for kids and adults.It is way better than video games and movies.Once you have the equipment,the cost is minimal,unless you have a crash.A crash is not the end of the world,but the first one is usually the worst feeling.It is a very good feeling though, when you can take that wrecked plane and fix it so that it is flyable again.

It can also be fun just to go to a local r/c airfield and watch everyone else fly their planes and helicopters.Sometimes they have competitions like air races,stunt competitions,and pattern competitions.These are all fun to watch,even for the other pilots.I have gotten to know some of the pilots at my local field,and they are mostly helpful to beginners.As long as you follow the safety rules,they are very willing to help out.
