Ugh!Anyone who has owned a vehicle,and gotten a letter from your dealership containing a Technical Service Bulletin knows what I mean.This video shows how to find out if your vehicle model has had any significant amount of problems from the factory,and recalls etc. I know what it’s like to get these letters.I must be a guru for picking vehicles with flaws from the factory.I currently own two vehicles,a pickup and a car,that have problems from the factory.If you want to know which vehicle not to buy,then take me along with you when you are ready to purchase one.If I like one,do not buy that one.Boom.Done.You have most likely avoided buying a pile of junk. Lol. If you are buying a used car,then usually CARFAX reports any major problems,if the vehicle was fixed at an accredited ASE shop.If it was fixed by handy dandy mechanic cousin Joe,then it isn’t going to show up on CARFAX.

The NHTSA-National Highway Traffic Safety Administration keeps files on record of complaints logged from unhappy consumers.They have a website you can access:http://www.safercar.gov/. The website also contains data about vehicles that are 5-star rated for safety.There are two categories for this rating:All vehicles made starting model year 2011 are rated on a more stringent scale than those made prior.The model years 1990 through 2010 are scored on a different scale.This has something to do with the standard safety technologies on the newer vehicles. The  website also contains information about NHTSA recalls not only on vehicles,but includes safety recall related to child restraints as well.You can sign up for recall alerts as well.If you have  a problem or a defect,it can also be reported on this website. There is also a lot of other information about consumer safety tips ,such as tire maintenance,selection,and general questions.There is a ton of information on this site,as well as links to similar safety oriented sites.
