How to Generate Extra Pinterest Traffic for Your Blog

Pinterest Traffic … Pinterest traffic… Pinterest Traffic … a must in today’s social media marketing world.

Follow these six simple steps to get plenty of Pinterest Traffic…

1. Pin images. The more interesting they are, the more people will share them, sending them virally everywhere. Here’s how –

Adding New Pins

Making your own pins is easy—you can either upload your own pictures to Pinterest or find other items elsewhere on the Internet. Select “Add” in the top bar and you’ll be presented with three choices: “Add a Pin,” “Upload a Pin,” or “Create a Board.” To Add a Pin, click on it and enter the URL (website address) of the web page you would like to pin. Pinterest will scan that page and present you with all of the eligible photos (if there are any). Select one. The next screen lets you choose the board (choose an existing one or create a new one) and enter a description. Click “Pin it” for the item to appear on one of your boards.

Uploading a Pin

The process for uploading your own pin is similar. Select “Add” in the top bar and then “Upload a Pin.” You will then be given a file selection box—navigate on your computer to the picture you would like to upload and click “Choose File.” Once Pinterest transfers the photo from your computer, you will be given the opportunity to describe the pin and select a board or create a new board. Click “Pin it” for the item to appear on one of your boards…

Using a Bookmarklet or Extension

Choosing items on the internet and pinning them to Pinterest can be made easier by using a bookmarklet, a small button that you install in your browser. To use these, your browser “bookmarks” toolbar should be visible (check your “View” menu option in the browser). On the Pinterest website, go to “About” and “Goodies.” See that “Pin it” button in the middle of the screen? Click and drag it to your bookmarks toolbar. Now, when navigating a page on the internet that contains something you would like to pin, simply click the “Pin it” button in your toolbar and you’ll be able to pin items without going to Pinterest—it all happens in the background.

Alternately, you can install a Firefox or Chrome Extension that will allow you to pin items to Pinterest by “right clicking” on pictures on the Internet. For detailed instruction, go to the Chrome menu, select “Tools” and then “Extensions.” Scroll down to “Get more extensions” and you’ll be able to find and install a Chrome browser extension to get the right-click functionality. The process for adding a Firefox extension is similar. with thanks to Greg Enslen

2. Embed Your URL (website) – if you’re using the Pin It Button on your toolbar to add images you find online, the url is added automatically.

3. Wait for Other Pinterest Users – they will re-pin your image and it will spread virally across Pinterest. Now you’ll get some of that Pinterest traffic juice.

4. Main Advantage -your link stays embedded in 95% of all the re-pins. That’s why Pinterest traffic is so easy to generate.

5. Keep Your Boards Tightly Targeted. You canmake as many boards as you like, so keep subjects separated. Others might not want to follow all your boards, just the ones they are interested in.

6. Follow Others in Your Niche and they will follow you back. If they like your pins, they’ll re-pin you and send your material out virally. Remember to re-pin others – they get an email saying you re-pinned them and usually come to your site to return the favour.

Rinse and repeat and watch your results – grab your share of Pinterest traffic now.

Why is Pinterest Traffic So Popular Today?

Pinterest is driving more referral traffic than any social network in a LONG time.

Founded in 2009, the San Francisco-based company has grown to nearly 40 million users globally, according to ComScore.

According to TECHBLOG

Pinterest, the popular picture-sharing service, will offer new accounts tailored for businesses to fuel the expansion of its user base ahead of a decision on how to generate income from the website.

The accounts will make it easier for companies to join and use the social networking site, according Cat Lee, a product manager at Pinterest. The website, where members collect and share photos by pinning them to an online bulletin board, may add more business services in the future, including analytics, she said. Whole Foods Market posts recipes on Pinterest, while Macy’s features new clothes.

Pinterest is stepping up efforts to woo more businesses that add content to the service and help it boost its user base. …..

“This is the first step to helping businesses make the most out of Pinterest,” Lee said in an interview. “We hope to basically give businesses more tools and more resources.”

Pinterest has thousands of accounts that are run by businesses already, she said, declining to give specifics. The new business accounts, which have separate terms of service, also will guide companies on how to drive traffic to their websites using Pinterest, Lee said.

While the company has grown, it hasn’t yet introduced a plan to make money from its growing base of members. Today’s announcement isn’t tied to that, and Pinterest isn’t commenting on when a business model will be rolled out, she said.

“When we do introduce a business model, we’ll definitely plan on designing it to make the user experience better,” she said.

Why Retailers are Joining for Pinterest Traffic.

According to a recent survey, two thirds of Pinterest users window shop, seeking out potential retailers.

Around two-thirds of Pinterest users sign up to the social scrapbooking network specifically to identify potential purchases or engage with brands, a study found.

BizRate Insights’ ‘Online Consumer Pulse’ compared the shopping and brand engagement behaviour of  Pinterest and Facebook users, finding that in addition to generating a huge amount of referral traffic, Pinterest users are far more likely to ‘window shop’ than their Facebook counterparts.

The website monitoring company surveyed 1248 Pinterest users and 4738 Facebook users in North Amercia, revealing 69% of Pinterest users buy or plan to buy an item they found on the social network, compared to 40% of Facebook users.

In addition, 70% of Pinterest users cite ‘to get inspiration on what to buy’ as a main reason for using the social network, while only 17% of Facebook users reported the same motivation.
